Amazing accapella group. Love this song. I wanted to embed the video, but it wasn't the new full screen or as awesome quality as on youtube.

Happy New Year

Just stoppin' by to say Happy New Year to everyone!!

I'm at a New Year's party with friends, but everyone should have a great night.

Today's X-Files Marathon

I've been pretty successful in my X-Files marathon today.

3.21 "Avatar"
3.22 "Quagmire" - Poor dog.
3.23 "Wetwired"
3.24 "Talitha Cumi"
4.01 "Herrenvolk" - I haven't finished this episode, because it's not playing right.
4.02 "Home" - This episode was gross.
4.03 "Teliko"
4.04 "Unruhe"
4.05 "The Field Where I Died" - I'm watching this episode right now, and Mulder is very pretty and full of angst.

Wow, nine episodes. I need a life. After this episode I'm going to do some design stuff and not watch many more episodes.

The Result of Yesterday's Marathon

I was out most of yesterday, but I managed to get the following episodes of the X-Files in.

3.17 "Pusher" - This episode was great. The villain was awesome.
3.18 "Teso Dos Bichos" - This is apparently widely regarded as the worst episode of X-Files ever, but I didn't hate it. I enjoyed it as an episode, though it's not one that I would watch again.
3.19 "Hell Money" - Good, but not a favorite of mine.
3.20 "Jose Chungs 'From Outer Space'" - Great concept, wicked funny, done really well. Reminds me of the Supernatural episode "Tall Tales."

X-Files Marathon Continues, Christmas and More

Christmas was great. We spent the morning opening gifts, then went over to visit our uncle and cousin in the afternoon. I got some pretty awesome toys this year. Of them: a web cam, a headset (for playing games, like WoW specifically), a set of speaker, a CD player/mp3 player audio system, a set of bowls that can cook in the oven (for making soup), and more.

My X-Files marathon is continuing. Below is a list of the episodes I have watched since the beginning of this marathon a week ago.

1.01 "Deep Throat"
1.02 "Squeeze"
1.03 "Conduit" - A very important episode in learning about the character of Mulder.
1.04 "The Jersey Devil"
1.05 "Shadows"
1.06 "Ghost in the Machine" - The machine taking over is an old concept, but this is done very well.
1.07 "Ice" - I truly enjoy this episode. All the suspicion is well-written and played.
1.08 "Space"
1.09 "Fallen Angel"
1.10 "Eve"
1.11 "Fire" - It's nice to see that Mulder has some fears and some information into his past.
1.12 "Beyond the Sea" - The main guest star in this episode is amazing and definitely carries the episode well.
1.13 "Gender Bender"
1.14 "Lazarus"
1.15 "Young at Heart" - Some cool back story for Mulder.
1.16 "E.B.E"
1.17 "Miracle Man"
1.18 "Shapes"
1.20 "Tooms"
1.21 "Born Again" - A good story, though not a great wrap up at the end.
1.22 "Roland" - Very cool story.
1.23 "The Erlenmeyer Flask"
2.01 "Little Green Men"
2.02 "The Host"
2.03 "Blood" - This episode is very creepy and cool. A great concept done well.
2.04 "Sleepless"
2.05 "Duane Barry" - Great episode. I liked the actor that played Duane Barry when he was in Supernatural and I liked him better in this.
2.06 "Ascension"
2.07 "3"
2.08 "One Breath"
2.09 "Firewalker"
2.10 "Red Museum"
2.11 "Excelsis Dei"
2.12 "Aubrey"
2.13 "Irresistible"
2.14 "Die Hand die verletzt"
2.15 "Fresh Bones"
2.16 "Colony" - This is a great Mulder episode.
2.17 "End Game"
2.18 "Fearful Symmetry"
2.19 "Død Kalm"
2.20 "Humbug" - "This episode is out there, even for the X-Files. But I kinda love it. It's radically different and original.
2.21 "The Calusari"
2.22 "F. Emasculata"
2.23 "Soft Light" - Awesome concept and execution. I love this episode.
2.24 "Our Town"
2.25 "Anasazi"
3.01 "The Blessing Way"
3.02 "Paper Clip"
3.03 "D.P.O." - This episode was just odd. The "hick" feel of the main character seemed a little bit over played. It was cool to see Jack Black in something serious.
3.04 "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" - I love the way this show presents psychics. It's a funny, cynical view of psychics, but I love it. Of course, one of my other favorite shows is Psych, so I'm used to psychics being lots of fun.
3.05 "The List"
3.06 "2Shy" - Truly creepy and gross.
3.07 "The Walk"
3.08 "Oubliette" - I love the connection between Mulder and Lucy, the waitress, in this episode.
3.09 "Nisei"
3.10 "731"
3.11 "Revelations"
3.12 "War of the Coprophages" - I love love LOVE this episode. I absolutely HATE bugs, but this episode was brilliant. I love that most of the episode is Scully and Mulder calling each other and talking over the phone.
3.13 "Syzygy" - I truly enjoyed this episode. Mulder and Scully snarking at each other was funny and a completely different way of seeing their dynamic.
3.14 "Grotesque" - I didn't like the pacing of this episode. It was hard to understand and the plot was iffy.
3.15 "Piper Maru"
3.16 "Apocrypha"

Yes, I've been a busy little fangirl. Now that I've gone through and remarked on some of my favorite episodes, I'm realizing that my favorites are the Mulder ones. This really shouldn't be a surprise for me (that I like learning more about my favorite character, who happens to be a tall male who's funny and handsome), but for some reason it still is. Oh well.

I played a lot of WoW today. Like, a lot. Not as much as yesterday, but still a significant amount. I played with Erin and her boyfriend, so it was a social experience.

On another note, I think I'm getting sick. My cousin was sick and maybe that's how I got it, but I'v been coughing and just feeling generally ick.

The Best and Worst of 2008: My Favorite TV Shows

This series of posts is dedicated to my favorite and least favorite things of 2008. Television, movies, games, classes, everything. If I loved it or hated it, I'll make mention of it in these posts.

This post is dedicated to my favorite television shows.

Favorite TV Shows

Bones
In the past, I've had trouble keeping up with this show, but this year I've made a point to watch every episode. Even though I haven't been able to watch the episodes when they air I do watch them on FOX Online on Thursday. I love Booth and Brennan and this is a show that all of my friends watch (us girls at least). We all agree that Booth and Brennan need to get together and make beautiful children really fast, and also that Angela and Hodgins should be together. I can't wait to see more of this show.

Criminal Minds
I try my best to keep up with this show, but it's hard because I had some scheduling conflictions between life and my tv schedule. It doesn't help matters that CBS seems to hate this show and doesn't post the episodes on their site. I still love Reid and I'd like to catch up with what's been going on. This may be my next marathon.

Doctor Who
Oh Doctor Who. I've only known this show and fandom for a very short time, but I am enamored. I love the Doctor and the TARDIS and Martha and Donna and Rose and EVERYTHING. I just wish there were some better fanfictions out there for this fandom. I can't wait to see what happens in the season 5 specials. I sure am going to miss David Tennant like crazy.

Fringe
I'm pretty sure I've stayed caught up with this show. I really enjoy the characters and how out there the plot lines are. It helps that FOX has the best video player out of all the main networks websites. I'm able to catch up on episodes legally without wanting to rip my hair out waiting for the thing to load (CBS, I'm looking at you).

How I Met Your Mother
I watched this show only for Neil Patrick Harris. I started watching just after watching Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. I marathoned all the episodes that had aired in a very short spae of time. Since then I've watched episodes as they've come out. Not on the television because I work from 8 pm on Monday's but online after work. I'm come to love the cast and I've been sucked into the plot and the relationship twists.

Merlin
I started watching this show just after it started. Maybe around the third episode. Since catching up I've managed to watch the episodes as they air. I live in the US so I've been watching these episodes online, but I love them. Even though this show is a terrible smudge of history and just fiction I think it's adorable. I love both Bradley James and Colin Morgan. I enjoy every second of this show, and not only because the boys are cute (though that is definitely a factor).

NCIS
I've been staying caught up with this as best as possible. Like every other show, I not able to watch this on the television screen when it airs. I struggle through watching this show CBS.com every week, and it is a struggle. The video player that CBS has sucks ass hardcore. Despite the crappy player, I still love NCIS. All the characters and the plot lives are amazing. I'm not big into the fandom for this, but I do get excited to watch new episodes every week.

Psych
I was introduced to this show last year, but I really started keeping track of new episodes this year. I'm addicted. I watch new episodes as soon as I can get my hands on them. This is one of the only shows that I will buy on iTunes instead of finding on some obscure website online. I love Shawn. He's such an odd character and I love him. Gus is the perfect balance to Shawn's oddities. He's not nearly normal either, but he does his best to stay in touch with the real world. Whereas Shawn just really likes to be a kid even though he's in his mid twenties or so.

Stargate Atlantis
This season has been my least favorite, but despite how disappointed I've been about the episodes and sad about this being the end of Stargate Atlantis I still make a point to try to watch this show when it airs. This show still registers as a favorite because I still keep up with it in the fandom and I'm still in love with all of the characters.

Supernatural
I need to review this newest season, because I haven't watched the episodes over again as I have in the past. I just haven't had the time. I love the introduction of Castiel because he's just as awesome as the Winchester boys, but he doesn't try to steal the scenes. He's able to be awesome in tandem with the Winchesters instead of trying to be in competition with them. This show is great because it's very interactive for me. I like watching Supernatural with Melissa and Carissa and we like to comment on the episodes. I love that this show makes me yell at the screen and attempt to speak to the characters.

Torchwood
I had to watch this show after watching Doctor Who. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it because I wasn't a huge fan of Jack Harkness in Doctor Who. However, Jack takes on a whole new depth in Torchwood and I love his team. Especially Ianto. I love the relationship between Jack and Ianto. I never knew that my life was missing epic amounts of boy-kissing before I watched Torchwood, but I definitely was. I can't wait to see what happens next, especially with half of the team gone.

The X-Files
This is, without a doubt, my most recent obsession. I've been watching this show for no more than a week. I knew afteer watching only a couple episodes, that this time it was going to be for real. I've watched the X-Files before. Last year I used to watch episodes when they aired late at night, and that was how I was reintroduced to the show this year. Melissa and I caught an episode on the television late at night, and it had all the things I love in the tv show: a pretty boy (or more than one) Mulder, scifi (duh!), great chemistry between the main characters (Mulder and Scully are the classic example of great chemistry). It even had hurt AND comfort. Scully had Mulder rest his head in her lap. IEEEEEEEEE!!! I'm not nearly finished watching this show, but with the rate I'm going it won't take me long. I'm more than midway through season two right now and I haven't skipped an episode yet (and I don't plan to).

Bedtimes Nao

Well, I've finished the pilot episode of the X-Files so now I'm going to bed. Probably with some lights on. The X-Files scares me in a way that Supernatural never has. Supernatural might get me for a minute, make me jump, but the X-Files makes me turn on lights and look around the corner while holding a weapon. I kinda love it. I may have to confine my marathoning of the X-Files to the daylight hours.

The X-Files

I watched some episodes of The X-Files last year when I would stumble across the episodes on tv late at night. Tonight I watched a really good episode with Melissa and it inspired me to watch another (the episode we watched was 5.04 "Detour"). The episode I just finished is called "Drive" (6.02). I love this show. Why have I not watched all of these before? I've just started watching the first episode "Pilot" and I'm adding an X-Files tag, because I'm pretty sure that I'm going to spend the next few weeks racing through the nine seasons and two (?) movies.

YAY for marathons.

I Want To Do This

I'm working on my PERL final assignment, but once I'm not really really busy and half asleep I would like to participate in this: http://anteka.livejournal.com/626024.html. Because it looks like a lot of fun. I wouldn't be able to do it through LiveJournal though, because I can't do voice posting, but I can record it and put it on YouTube.

Made It!

I am physically awake and sitting in the classroom of my exam. It's officially 8am and our teacher has just walked in. One of my group members is here, but not both of them and that worries me a little.

All-Nighter

I'm planning on taking some power naps, but I'm staying up until and through my 8am exam tomorrow. It's not actually any exam, it's a presentation (that I'm not all that worried about) so I think I'll be able to do it. My biggest worry about tomorrow is that if I go to bed I'll sleep through the exam, or wake up late and get there late. But I'm also tired, so I'll see if I can take naps and get enough sleep to survive tomorrow. I have the exam and work at 5pm that I have to go to, but there's an end of the year library party around 12:30 that I'd love to go to.

This all-night is brought to you (most likely literally because I may just post all night long) by Shaw's brand Orange Soda, Bones and the essay I'll be writing tonight (may as well be productive while I don't sleep).

Flock and Facebook

So, I'm checking my Facebook in Flock (the browser) and I just found this picture.

My sister posted it. Erin's the one holding Laura. I''m the one leaning over. And the girls are our cousins Sarah and Laura. I love this picture!

Finished, Colors Here I Come

My flash project is finished. I'm just loading it onto a flash drive so that I can turn it in. So now I have time to eat my lunch and work on colors for this blog. And also to post pictures. I didn't take a new picture of Got Nothin' before I started messing with things, so I've just stolen the finish picture from my first redesign.

So that's how it looked before. Two columns, a lovely picture of Jensen Ackles for everyone to stare at. I do love that picture, but after more than a year I needed a change. I may put a background picture into this layout, but I'm not sure. For now I'm just going to mess around with colors because I like how simple this template is. Simple and clean, it's a good thing.

Once I've decided on colors for good (most likely tomorrow or the day after) I'll post another "after the redesign" picture.

Ha HA! Success!!

So, my blog is now three columns wide and all about 900 pixels wide. Here's the site I used to change the amount of columns here: http://tips-for-new-bloggers.blogspot.com/2007/02/three-columns-blogger-template.html. For the time being it's also boring to the max. I'd like to spend the next hour playing around with colors, but I need to finish my flash project because I have an exam at 3:30 and then my flash exam is just after that on at 6pm.

So, in the near future I will change the colors and fonts and such on this, but for now it's enough that my posts are as long as my extensive navigation. I was getting annoyed that the page was so long and it was all because of the nav bar and never because of the content.

In Flux

If you are viewing this blog as white with the Prop 8 video over lapping the sidebar, then I am sorry. I'm working on changing my blog to a three-column design and I need to copy down all my widgets so that I don't lose them forever. They are the reason why I need three columns. This will all be resolved eventually. Don't worry.

Love, Me

No Motivation

So, it's exam week. I have no motivation. At all. Just today though. I'd been doing well up to today. Tomorrow I need to finish my flash project (just add in the content) and make some progress on my commission for Aesthetic Expressions. It's not due tomorrow, but I had wanted to have it finished by tomorrow and I need to at least have some progress to speak about in the exam period. But for tonight I am done with thinking. I'm going to not get anything accomplished for the rest of the time I'm at work and when I get back to my dorm I'm going to eat some of my chili (with cheese!) and watch the newest episode of How I Met Your Mother.

Also, the internet is so ridiculously slow tonight that I want to nap while I wait for pages to load (or play Solitaire, I think I may do that).

Prop 8: The Musical

I thought I was done saying things tonight, but once I get typing I just keep thinking up more things to say. I saw my Neil Patrick Harris tag on the side and had to post a link to Prop 8: The Musical.

Instead of that I've found some embed code.

We watched this in Scientific Revolutions, because my teacher is awesome.

I believe that the "between the lines" message of this video is "Neil Patrick Harris should always be center stage in everything."

The Twilight Movie

The following post is spoilery for the Twilight movie and is partially written by the eleven-year-old-Meg living in a corner of your brain (she's the one that like the High School Musical movies and the Disney Channel, not me). You have been warned.

I liked the Twilight movie. Shut up, yes for real. I've seen it twice. Once on November 21 at 12:05 am with Melissa and once with Mom, Erin, Dad, Monique and Bailey. I loved everything about it the first time I saw it (for the most part). I was really surprised too, because I didn't like the Harry Potter movies (I watch the fourth movie when I want to see Robert Pattinson or David Tennant). When I saw the movie a second time, I'd read other people's opinions of the movies and started noticing the things that had annoyed them. Also, Erin was sitting next to me laughing hilariously at it. I still stand firm that I love Robert Pattinson as Edward. The first half of the movie is slow, but once it picks up it's very good. I love the baseball scene (especially Jasper throwing the bat around and looking all smexy). I love Alice and Jasper. To me they were PERFECT. Also, Charlie. The guy that played him was AMAZING. I loved every scene he was in, whether it was true to the book or not. I thought that sparkly-Edward could have been done so much worse and I loved the prom scene. Way to make me want you even more Edward! Shut up eleven year old!

I think that everyone should read this: http://oxymoronassoc.livejournal.com/462027.html. It's two girls discussing what Edward was doing while everyone else in the house was having crazy sex. It's hilarious. Even if you only know the basic premise of the story it's funny. If you've read the books it's even better.

What else to say? I loved the Cullen house and I kind of want to be Alice because she's awesome. Jackson Rathbone (the actor that played Jasper) looks like Johnny Depp to me (and also like my friend Bryan). I enjoyed him thoroughly in the movie.

In conclusion, I love how the Blogger spellchek makes me look like a good person, even at 2 in the morning. The end.

My Non-NaNo Post of Recent Going Ons

I have a new desktop picture, and really, when do I not have a new desktop picture?

The picture used in this wallpaper is from Stargate Atlantis and the quote is from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I love the Doctor (very much), but I needed a new wallpaper. I actually still want another new one, but it's exam week and I don't have time to play around in Photoshop for fun (but I do have time to update my blog more than I have in the past month, good call me).

As said already, it's exam week. I have a debate tomorrow where I'll be debating whether or not we (human beings) have freewill or not. I'm debating that we do. My partner/opponent is debating that we don't have free will. We're supposed to use scientific evidence to support our claims, but there is no scientific evidence to support the idea that humans have free will. It's supports Steve position that there is no free will, decision making is a process in the brain that we don't have control over. Also, I hate debating and we have to do it in front of the class. I'm screwed.

After that it shouldn't be that bad though. I have two exams on Tuesday. In the first one I have to talk about a paper I'm writing and a work of art I'm making. In the other I have to present the flash web site I've been working on. I'm not worried about either of those. I'm doing pretty well on the paper (haven't actually started writing it, but I'm working on the artwork) and I've been spending a lot of time on the flash project. It will be way better than the other two flash projects I've done for the class. Wednesday I have my PERL exam. That one worries me. We (my group and I) have to give a presentation, not only to the class, but also to some people in charge of a website. Our big project for the year was to make a PERL application of some kind that could go on this web site. So the group will the best/most impressive application will actually go up on the site. Our's is a time management quiz. The user answers a bunch of questions and the quiz tells if the player is sucking at time management (always choosing homework over friends), doing okay with time management (school over friends/family) or if they are really good at time management (balancing family, friends, school, work, etc.). My PERL exam is at 8am, so I'm staying up all night and going to the exam, then going to bed after it's over. I'm going to take naps so that I'm rested, but if I actually go to bed, I won't be able to get up and ready and to campus on time. My exam on Thursday is for my Algebra class. I'm getting a 96.5 in the class, so I could tank the exam and still get a better grade in the class than some of my classmates.

On a completely different note, I bought season 3 of Bones over Thanksgiving Break (and watched all of it). I brought seasons 1 and 2 back to school with me, so I've been going through and watching episodes here and there when I have free time. I really love that show. Friday night I watched an episode that I'd seen many times, but I watched it with a commentary by Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. It's was hilarious. They are so funny and adorable together in the show. I kinda want to rewatch all of Torchwood because I kind of miss the boy-kissing, but I left my external hard drive home with Erin, and since I watched the show for the first time in like HD, I'm too picky to wait for it to load and watch crappy quality online.

Over Thanksgiving Break Dad and Erin introduced me to World of Warcraft. It is a terribly addictive game, but I am managing to play it and still appear to classes and shower every day. My friends are worried that I'll become a shut in that never showers, but I feel really dirty when I don't shower, and that's not going to change and I'm already kind of shut in, so that's not going to change much. I do my best to not talk about all the creatures and zombies I've killed when I'm around them, but it really is an addicting game.

I have more to say, but I'm going to continue it in another post because my tags are too long when I add on the next two I need and I feel that I need all of them.

I Did It Again

Before explaining the title of this post, let me start by telling a story.

On Sunday November 30, 2008 (this year), I was sitting in my friend Monique's car. She was driving us from Maine back to Vermont after Thanksgiving Break. I was working on my NaNoNovel. At some point during the ride she said something to the effect of "if you hit 50k, I'll buy you the ten year shirt."

A little more back story now. This year was the tenth year that NaNoWriMo has been held, and the Office of Letters and Light has a shirt that they are selling that commemorates the ten year anniversary of the writing challenge. Both Monique and I had seen the shirt and thought it was very cool. As of Sunday November 30th, the last day of NaNoWriMo, I was around 38,500 words. Approximately 11.5k away from the 50k word goal.

At around 7pm, I passed 50k and validated my word count for the month. So, for the second year in a row, I have won NaNoWriMo. I just uploaded the winner badge to the sidebar, and I love my shirt.

Goal Completion: 11. Read something at a PoJazz event (on stage to the audience, not a book in the back corner of the room to myself).

On Thursday night I went to PoJazz at Parima's in Burlington, and I read the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph. I was drawn to the poem by the first two lines: "When I am an old woman I shall wear purple/With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me." A few of my friends came with me to see me read and also make sure that I did it. I was really nervous, but glad that I did it because I don't want to be held back by my stage fright. I want to continue to rage against it and do things even though I'm scared silly of doing them.

Dear Blog,

Today has been a pretty great day, except I'm grumpy, I'm irritable, and I've been acting like a bitch.

Goal Completion: 31. Register to vote.

I have completed goal #31 under Real Life. Not only did I register to vote, but I actually voted too. Go me!

New Wallpaper

I made a new wallpaper and hated it so much that it only lasted on my laptop for about a day. Yesterday I made this one, which I like very much and am very pleased about.

I <3 this wallpaper.

I Can Haz A Jennie!

My Jennie is in Vermont to visit Ryan, Mo, Dustin and I. We hung out some tonight and ate cake. Unfortunately, I'm going home for the weekend. I'm leaving tomorrow morning and then leaving Maine to come back at 10am on Monday morning. I wish that Jennie and I weren't switching for the weekend. I'm goin' home to visit family, and I can't wait to pet my kitties. yay!!

In other news, my laptop has alotta shit on it. I went through and deleted and uninstalled a bunch of things tonight, because I was running out of space, but I still have a lot on here.

Goal Completion: 28. Watch this YouTube vid with sound

I have just watched the following YouTube vid with sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvit4QgHRBo.

I definitely don't like Wincest in fanfic, but I love it in vids because it's more of a challenge to use the clips from the show to show something different than what most see (gen brolove). This vid is actually really good and I'm adding it to my YouTube favorites list.

See the updated list here.

Also, I'm adding an unofficial goal to my list: read all the children's books in the Champlain College Library.

My Section for the PERL Project

I need to make questions for the following three sections for Project Lovebeam's PERL project.

Friends
Work ($)
"Me Time"

Three questions for each catagory. Label the multiple choice answers for 1, 2, or 3.
1 = well balanced
2 = pretty good/needs a little work
3 = not balanced at all. Prioties not well organized.

Goal Completion: 04. Have 101 goals by 1am Oct 4, 2008.

I completed goal #4 under Miscellaneous. I had all 101 goals by Oct. 4, 2008. I was worried that I wouldn't have 101 goals to complete, but I totally do have 101 goals and I did have them all by before 1am on Oct. 4, 2008.

See the updated list here.

Goal Completion: 09. Sing in the shower.

I completed goal #9 under real life today, by borrowing Melissa's iPod speaker and rocking out in the shower. There are no pictures for this one because there aren't. I was dissapointed to find that there are no outlets in bathroom. Probably a safety thing, but it took me a while to get the speaker plugged in outside the bathroom and have the speaker and iPod actually in the bathroom, but I managed it. There's actually a outlet right outside the bathroom to the right of the door.

My Newest Desktop Picture and Associated Obsession

I present to you ("you" meaning anyone other than me that is reading this) my newest desktop picture. Ta da!

Along with this wallpaper (which took me two-three hours to make in Photoshop) I present my newest obsessions: Doctor Who and David Tennant (and Torchwood, but that's not in the wallpaper).

I went on a Doctor Who and Torchwood bender. I watched all of the new!Who, the show that restarted in 2005, and Torchwood in about three and a half weeks. During that time I also went to classes and socialized. It was great fun. I am, at this moment, listening to the Torchwood soundtrack, and have been doing so for the past week or so. Because one of the first things I noticed when I started watching Torchwood was that I really liked the music. I also really like the opening. I'm taking a class called Digital Interactive Design this semester. It's a Flash class. And I would love to be able to make a sequence as cool as the Torchwood opening in Flash.

Creatures and Lengends Myths for My NaNo

"List of Legendary Creatures," at WikiPedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_legendary_creatures)
This seems like a good place to start. A jumping off point of sorts.

"Top 10 Mythical Creatures," at List Universe (http://listverse.com/bizarre/top-10-mythical-creatures/)

These are creatures that I really don't want to use in my NaNovel unless I dig really deep into research and do them differently than others have before. I just think that they are too common. Also: dragons and angels, but I am willing to change my mind if the story needs it.

NaNoWriMo: Is It November Yet?

I've given up on doing homework for the night, and instead I'm looking through the NaNoWriMo forums. I don't why looking through the forums gets me so pumped for November, but it does. I'm ready, well, inpiration wise. I have no plot, or characters. But those things don't really matter for NaNoWriMo anyway.

One thing that I've found that looks interesting (while looking through the forums) is a program called Temptation Blocker. The link is here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/temptblocker/, and I think I'll be putting it on my laptop when I get home from work tonight.

I've also just noticed that I can't find my NaNo 2007 winner badges, so I'm going to look for them online and steal them, because I thought I'd posted them on here, but apparently not. I did win though. No doubt about it.

101 Goals in 1001 Days?

I think I'm going to write up a list of 101 goals to achieve in 1001 days. It seems like an interesting concept, and I really love lists. I've fallen a little bit behind in my homework and need a few days to catch up and write my list of goals, but once I've made the list I'll post it here on my blog so that other people can attempt to keep me going toward my goals.

If you think the concept of 101 Goals in 1001 Days Sounds interesting and would like to learn more, here is the web address: http://www.101goalsin1001days.com/.

Dr. Horrible, Roswell, 21, Stargate Atlantis & More

I haven't posted in a while and figured that now is the time to do it. I have a couple of things to blog about, so here goes.

Dr. Horrible. Love it! I just checked the play count on my iTunes copy of Dr. Horrible and I've watched Act I 4 times, Act II 2 times and Act III 1 time. I've watched it 3 or four times all the way through on my iPod too. It turns out that Dr. Horrible has the ability to make sweeping and mopping at Dunkin Donuts more fun. I like that I can listen to it on my iPod while mopping without watching it. I love Dr. Horrible in ways that I can't even describe. I'll compare my love for it to my love for Stargate Atlantis and Supernatural. That should give some idea at least. I love the cast. Neil Patrick Harris is amazing. I loved Nathan Fillion in Firefly, but I didn't know he could sing. I can't think of anyone who could play Captain Hammer better than Nathan Fillion. Felicia Day has a very pretty voice. I love the way Billy (Dr. Horrible) trips over his words (especially around Penny). I love that the last line of the first act is "Balls". I love Joss Whedon. I loved the fangirls and boy in the third act. As I write this I'm adding to the play count by watching it again. I'm going to share it with my friends on Saturday. Bring my laptop to the party we're finally having and making them watch it. Now I just have to get Erin to watch with me.

Found this clip from How I Met Your Mother: I think it's pee-your-pants funny, and I've watched it three times. EDIT (9/23/2010): I can no longer find the video on YouTube, but it's called "Don't Hit the Dog" and it's from the episode "Arrivederci, Fiero."

Roswell. I've been watching Early Edition (and older show that I watched as a kid, I'll more about it later in this post) and I was complaining to my Dad that I was having trouble getting the episodes. He told me to watch Roswell. He told me that I'd be caught in 12 minutes. God damn, I didn't even make it to the title before I was hooked. I'm a very shallow person and I love Jason Behr as Max Evans. I've seen the entire first season, it's online for free at http://hulu.com/. Now I have to get my hands on the second and third seasons. I'm thinking I'll buy a set of all three seasons.

Early Edition. Early Edition is a show from the 90s about a guy who gets tomorrow's paper every morning. It starred Kyle Chandler (now in Friday Night Lights). Every morning he wakes up at 6:30am to find tomorrow's Chicago Sun Times and a cat sitting outside his door. I remembered watching this when I was younger and bought it when I saw the first season DVD set at WalMart. It was fun to rewatch it. I'm in season four now, almost finished.

21. I just finished watching the movie 21. I liked it. And I think this comfirms my love for Jim Sturgess, as if Across the Universe hadn't already done that for me.

Stargate Atlantis. I watched "The Seed" on Saturday. I'll be getting the new episodes from iTunes until I get back to school and have the SciFi channel. I liked the episode. It wasn't as good as "Search & Rescue" (though, really, how can you beat that episode?). I think it was because the episode was the introduction of Woolsey to the regular cast. Because they were trying to introduce him the main plot got pushed to the side. However, it had whump and that's a trend starting for this season that I'm fine with (really, I am!). Erin and I joke that SGA has added a new writer to the cast: a fanfic writer. Convulsions, surgery, internal bleeding. All in the first two episodes. We approve. Can't wait for the next episode. I haven't even seen the commercial for it.

Okay, it's thundering and lightning here, and I'm almost through with watching Dr. Horrible again, so I guess I'll finish this up and shut down.

Stargate Atlantis Episode 5.01 "Search and Rescue"

I don't want to write too much about this episode because it hasn't aired yet (it got leaked and my willpower is not strong when it comes to my obsessions) and because I'm still not fully coherent.

I watched it Saturday morning and again Saturday night. It is sooooooooooo good. I wish I could make people understand how I feel about this episode, but I doubt I can. Just thinking about it my stomach gets all fluttery and I feel like skipping. The special effects were amazing. The plot line was GUH! It was seriously like a hurt/comfort fanfic on screen. Watching this episode was one of the best spent hours (43 minutes, whatever) of my life. The acting was tremdous. Everyone from the guy that fetches coffee in the morning to the writers, director, camera people, and actors NAILED this episode. Joe Flanigan is amazing. Sometimes I doubt the amazing-ness and then I watch episodes like this one. I love the things they've made canon (though they've been fanon for a while). There are so many insights into Sheppard (and other characters too, but mostly Sheppard), how he thinks and feels. How he's reacting to the chance to save Teyla.

I cannot wait to see how the rest of this season goes. I want to see many moments where the boys (i.e. John, Rodney, and Ronon) interact with the baby. Sheppard's "I haz the baby, 'hi baby'" face is one of the greatest ever.

Twilight Chapter Reviews: 01. First Sight

I am a horrible, horrible procrastinator. I have been sitting here with my chapter 01 notes open next to me for about two hours. Now I am stopping my run of procrastination and writing this post. Yay for me!

I read this chapter and write down a bunch of ideas and quotes that I wanted to react to.

Number 01. Bella's problem with sharing a bathroom with Charlie. I have two separate, yet similar reactions to this. Reaction the first, I live in a house with four people, three of whom are women and two of those women are teenagers. We share one bathroom. The idea of sharing a bathroom with one other person does not seem as bad as Bella makes it out to be. Reaction the second, COLLEGE. Hello, in most dorms bathrooms are shared with like 20 people. I was lucky enough to get a private bathroom that I only shared with my roommate, but most have to share with an entire floor of people. What was Bella planning on doing when she went to college? Anyway. I think her reaction to sharing a bathroom was a little bit over-played. It's only one other person that she's sharing with after all.

Number 02. "No one was going to bite me" (pg. 14). This line is from when Bella has just arrived at school and is getting out of her truck to go to her first class. I like how his line is kind of ironic once you've read the books. The idea that Bella thinking that no one would bite her was a placating thought, but by the end of this book she's at an impasse with Edward where she wants to be bitten. I wonder is this is a line Stephanie Meyer planned or if she just coincidentally used the phrase "no one's going to bite you."

"They were two girls, one a porcelain-colored blonde, and the other also pale, with light brown hair" (pg. 15). On first read I thought this sentence was about Rosalie and Alice, but then I got to their descriptions and realized it wasn't about them at all. It was just about some pale students.

"As I watched, the small girl rose with her tray -- unopened soda, unbitten apple -- and walked away with a quick, graceful lope that belonged on the runway" (pg. 19). Hmm... "...unbitten apple..." sounds a lot like the image on the cover.

"So, did you stab Edward Cullen with a pencil, or what?" (pg. 25). This line is hilarious. I love it! It's such a teenager thing to say, and it's a great way for Bella to learn that Edward was reacting to her and not that they way he was acting was normal for him, without her having to ask about it. Very smooth.

I like this chapter. I flows so well into the next chapter that I didn't even see the chapter heading page for chapter 02. I didn't realize I was in the next chater until page 37 when I was like "hmm, this chapter is really long". I like how this chapter introduces new characters. I think it's very realistic that Bella can't remember Jessica's name and how she's kind of overwhelmed by everything her first day. I like the way Stephanie Meyer introduces the Cullens and the descriptions she uses so that everyone can see them as she does.

Chapter 02 and probably 03 to come within the next couple days. On a completely random and unrelated note, I am watching Thoughtcrimes for, like, the ninth time. It's got Joe Flanigan in it, which is why I've seen it when most people have never even heard of it.

Twilight Chapter Reviews: Preface

I like the preface. I like how it draws the reader into the story. Into the very end of the story and then the story starts from the beginning to explain the preface. I don't know why the preface didn't work to draw me in the first time I read this book, but it didn't. I read the first chapter or so and got bored. I didn't pick the book up for another couple weeks. But once I did really start reading it I got into it.

I really like the scene that was picked to be the preface. It leaves so many questions to be answered. Why is she going to die? How? Why has she had reason to be thinking about death? Who is "the hunter"? Who does she love that she's protecting? That she's dying for. What happened in Forks that has made facing death a possibility? What is the dream life offered her?

Even though I've read the books and know the answers to all these questions, I enjoy the preface and it's pulling me into reading the next chapter.

Yay! Money!!

I worked from noon 'til 9pm tonight. It was a long time to be standing and by about 7m basic counting was starting to get hard for me, but it was fun and I'd like to think that I was helpful.

I'm going to go down to my bedroom and read the first chapter of Twilight, so there should be a post or two following this one tonight. Then I have to go to bed because I'm working at my Aunt's daycare tomorrow and have to be up early (and pleasant too).

Addin' Some More Tags

Instead of going to bed, like I said I would I've been looking through my tags and old posts. I'm in this post adding tags for the characters John Sheppard, Dean Winchester and Edward Cullen.

I just finished rereading the Twilight books, but I want to read them again and post a little about each chapter. I'm not sure exactly what I'll write about each chapter. Maybe how I feel about the characters in the chapter and what I wish had happened opposed to what does happen. It'll probably end up being just whatever comes to mind after reading the chapter, but there will be more in this blog about Edward Cullen before the movie comes about. I'll make sure of it!!

Also, why didn't I have character tags for Dean and Sheppard. I talk about them enough in real-life, but apparently don't write any of it here on my blog. Weird. I was thinking earlier today about why I feel like John Sheppard is the younger brother based on what I know of sibling interactions from what I've witnessed in my own house and how the sibling interaction is presented on Supernatural. Maybe I'll type something up and put it here.

I Can Haz A Job and Twilight

I have a job. I am working at the Dunkin Donuts in my town. It's a lot of fun. I like the people I'm working with and the customers are pretty nice, most of the time. Dunkin Donuts is such a huge change from working at the Miller Information Commons (Champlain College Library). It's definitely two completely different jobs. The library was very slow. Dunkin Donuts is very fast paced and it's been a hard transition, but I think I'm doing pretty well with it.

Twilight. I cannot wait for the Twilight movie to come out. Okay, I can wait, but it will be hard. I'm so excited. I watched the clips on MTV.com of Laura Culpepper, the guest blogger meeting Robert Pattinson and watching the scene and her interview with him. And I've watched the scene they've shown and the preview like a million times each. I'm so excited!!

I am adding a Robert Pattinson tag, because I'm sure that by December 12th, when the Twilight movie comes out, I will have more to say about him. He is playing Edward after all. I've also added a tag for the Twilight book series because I don't even know why I didn't have a tag for that already. And I've added tags for work at the MIC and work at Dunkin Donuts, for when I need to complain about work sucking up all my free time and keeping me from getting any writing done.

Well, night for now. I'm working at noon tomorrow and I'm not sure yet when I'll be getting out. Sometime between 6pm and 10pm. Making money is fun.

RE-Redesign??

I'm getting pretty close to 250 posts (this is number 235, if you're interested) and I think it's just about time for a new design. I redesigned my web page (Excited Geek) in April and now I really want to redesign this blog.

In the near future, Got Nothin' will have a new face...again. I promise there will be before and after pictures, just like the first time I redesigned.

Fic: Paperwork Blues, Picture and Wallpaper

First, the desktop picture that started all this insanity.

The signature on here is my handwriting and it took me forever. I was having serious roblem with the P's in Sheppard, so I didn't write them. Before I gave up on them completely though, I asked Erin to help me and she wrote "Sheppard" in a ridiculous way that inspired the story that follows.

Title: Paperwork Blues
Author: Meg1742 with help and inspiration from Erin
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Genre: Light Crack.
Spoilers: None, unless you don't know that Sheppard is the Military Commander.
Words: Like 200 or so.
Summary: Sheppard is doing paperwork.

It was days like this that made Rodney question the sanity of his friend. Only the overgrown child that was Colonel "I'm A Trouble Magnet" Sheppard could sign a serious requistion form with a stick figure surfing the "r" of his last name.

"What is this?" The Colonel looked up from what looked to be weeks worth of paperwork and squinted at the page Rodney held.

"I'm not sure. Looks like a requisition form."

"I meant this." Rodney stepped forward, closer to the desk, and pointed at the signature.

"A really artistic drawing of a person with great hair surfing."

"This is a serious requisition. Did you even read it?"

"Yes, Rodney, I did." Sheppard sounded exhasperated, of course he'd read the requisition. He'd read hundreds of them. Sometimes being held captive by the Genii or Wraith seemed like more fun than dealing with the paperwork that came with the Military Commander position. "And that is a serious drawing. Look at the shading in that stick figure. Not everyone can do shading like that with a ball-point pen."

"Yes, and the waves look completely realistic."

"That's what I was going for."

"You're insane."

John looked at all the paperwork that still needed to be completed. "I'm pretty damn close."

Rodney surveyed the stacks of paper. "I'm heading to lunch. Want to tag along?"

"Absolutely."

And here's the actual picture that inpired the story. It enlarges a lot.

New Wallpapers

I have made some new wallpaers recently that I would like to share. All of them are 1280x800.

The picture for this wallpaper is from the Stargate Atlantis season 4 finale "The Last Man". I had a lot of fun with the coloring of the cap. I really enjoy how Joe Flanigan is standing and I will forever and always love his hair.

I made this while following a tutorial.

This is wallpaper that is gracing my desktop right now. I love it. I had too much fun coloring this picture to use as a desktop picture. I have a feeling that staring at this desktop picture will distract me from actually doing things on my computer.

Daycare...How Do Parents Do It?

My sister borrowed my laptop today and it made me think about parents and daycare. How do parents leave their children in other people's care, when I can't even leave my laptop with my sister for a day?

Leviathan is my baby. I have basically my entire life on my laptop. My schedule, my writing, my web stuff, my art work, EVERYTHING.

Thankfully, my baby is safe with me again and I'm posting this from her.

To Izzi

I am sorry to say that I am no help at all in the fanfic department. While I do read a lot of fanfics (Supernatural and Stargate Atlantis, specifically) I tend more toward hurt/comfort fics. So if you ever need to find hurt!Dean stories, I'm your girl!! But I'm not really into Dean having a love interest unless the story is really well done. I will recommend "Like Us But On Horseback" by theplanetmary. It's not necessarily a love story, but there is a female character in it and she's pretty cool.

Like I said, if you ever find yourself in need of hurt!Dean fanfics I know where to dig them out of the woodwork. And if you get into Stargate Atlantis and need Shepwhump (hurt!Sheppard) stories I can help you out there too.

Thanks for reading. It's kinda cool know that people are looking at what I write.

Continue watching Supernatural, it's good stuff. I'm so excited and nervous about the season finale tomorrow.

Meg

P.S. ZOMG, Jensen is so hot!!

Treadmill Journaling

I may restart the treadmill journaling to keep myself on track with summerwrite.

Script Frenzy, Summerwrite, Stop the Neglect

I finished script frenzy with a 30 page script. The script is incomplete, there are spelling errors and there are large gaps where I never wrote anything, but Script Frenzy is over, and for that I am thankful. I hate my plot and characters and I hope to never open up that script ever again. Thank the Impala it's done.

On to my next crazy ridiculous writing challenge: summerwrite. Summerwrite is a writing chalenge, much like NaNoWriMo, the goal is to write 150,000 wourds during the summer months (May, June, July, August). Because the goal is 37,500 words a month instead of 50,000, like NaNo, the daily word count quota is smaller. I've added a progress bar under my profile info here on Got Nothin'. That'll change everytime I update my word count on the site the bar is from. I've been posting updates to my livejournal (because summewrite is run through a livejournal community). So far I have 3,454 words. I'm almost caught up to yesterday's quota. Despite being behind on quotas, I really like what I've written so far. I think it's really good.

Also, I'd like to stop neglecting my blog. I don't mean to do it. I'll try to write more in here throughout summerwrite; excerpts, word counts, etc.

CW: Why Must You Give Us Heart Attacks?

The CW played a commercial for Reaper, that advertised that it would be playing TONIGHT at 9pm. I only had a minor heart attack, it's okay. The only reason I'm watching the CW tonight is because it's Thursday. In Meghan language Thursday means Supernatural. There's a new Supernatural tonight, but the CW played a Reaper commercial and I had to check on IMDb to make sure that tonight is when the new episode is planned. I'm right, the CW is wrong.

No more heart attacks, okay CW?!

OMG I want it.

Look how cute it is.

My Portfolio and Flock

I'm gonna be all backwards and blog about Flock first. Flock is a web browser. The Flock browser focuses on people connecting with others over the internet. Here is the link to the Flock web page: http://flock.com. It's pretty cool, and brings the number of browsers I have on Leviathan to five: Opera (my default browser), Firefox, Safari, Flock and Internet Explorer (yes, I put IE last on purpose).

My portfolio. I have FINALLY redesigned my portfolio website: http://excited-geek.com. The redesign isn't complete yet, but I have a home page and a WordPress blog. And I made the theme for my blog all by myself. The theme is made for the specific purpose of looking exactly like the main website. I'm going to get trucking on the portfolio page tonight at work. I work for four hours, so I should be able to get that page done. I'm hesitant about dong my about page, because I don't know what to write about myself. At least not enough to take up space on a whole page and normal enough to make it seem like I'm not just a dork, but also really good at what I do (web design, and I am really good.

Blog Neglect

I'm so glad that nobody ever gets in trouble for blog neglect, otherwise I would have serious legal problems. I can't believe I haven't updated since April 9. It doesn't feel like it's been that long.

First off, Script Frenzy. I have 19 pages, and I'm shooting for 50 by the end of the month. As much as I'd love to make 100 pages, my plot really isn't inspiring me to write and I've got exams and projects that I'm finishing up this week and next, and after that I'll be moving out of my dorm room and back into my home in Topsham.

I've just finished my Web Dev and Database finals and I think I did really well. yay me!

Flash, I have it. I'm playing around in Flash, and I've beeing playing around in Photoshop for a while. I'm taking a Flash class next semester and I want to get some practice in before hand. Because I really like being awesome.

Marathon Completion: 100%

Yeah, that's right. Melissa and I have watched all four seasons of Stargate Atlantis. She watched a bunch alone, so I haven't watched them all, but Melissa has.

Divs: A Letter to Myself

Dear Self,
You know that Web Dev class you're in right now? The one where you spend you Thursday mornings? You probably should have paid more attention to divs. I know that they annoy you with their unreliability. Like when they work in IE, but not in any other browser, which is a total turn around. Hey! I have an idea. How 'bout this summer you read up on divs and make like a million sites using divs so that by next semester in September you'll be a DIV MASTER?
Love,
Yourself

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

April Showers Bring May Flowers, Right?

So what do April snows bring?

In regards to the Stargate Atlantis marathon that Melissa and I have been having: we are through the third season episode "Common Ground" now. Because Melissa and I rock at marathonning.

For some reason Blogger won't let anyone sign in on my computer. I'm on a school computer right now. In the near future I'm going to find out why I can't sign inon my laptop and fix the problem.

More Stargate Atlantis Quotes

And now more quotes from Melissa and I's Stargate Atlantis marathon.

"Poisoning the Well"
Hoffan Governor Man: "Major Sheppard, I think you'll find this intriguing."
John: "I'm intrigued. What is it?"

John: "Do you have any idea when that will be? Morning? Afternoon?"

"Underground"
Rodney: "Maybe we should offer a sense of humor in trade."
John: "Sure…they can have yours."
Rodney: "Ah hahaha oh please my side…you slay me."

John: "Have you ever tried to clear a stump by hand?"
Elizabeth: "Yes, it's a hobby."

Rodney: "You don’t know what strange means?"
John: "I know what strange means Rodney."
Rodney: "weird, freakish…odd—"
John: "I’m just trying to determine whether it’s worth getting off the route back to the village."
Rodney: "pretty accurate reading of the Amish world…your call. We’re lost anyway what difference does it make?"
John: "I am not…lost…Alright…lets check it out."

Elizabeth: "No. How's that for an answer."
John: It's pithy. I'll give you that."

"Home"
John: "Eight hundred and four years."
Rodney: "What?"
John: "That’s how long it will take us to come get you by Puddlejumper."
Rodney: "But you would do that, right?"
John: "Of course we would."

John: "Yeah. It seemed like you were having fun. Hours and hours of fun."

"The Storm"
Elizabeth: "Did he just say weather forecasting?"

John: "This is Atlantis, it's gotta be able to handle that."

Ford: "How could something as big as Atlantis just sink?"
John: "I bet the passengers of the Titanic were thinking the same thing."

Rodney: "Despite what you all may think, I'm not Superman."
John: "Was anyone actually thinking that?"
Ford: "No, sir."

John: "Are these even close to transporters?"
Rodney: "Elizabeth's is."
John: "And mine?"
Rodney: "It's a brisk walk away."
John: "By brisk you mean far?"
Rodney: "And by walk I mean run."

"The Eye"
Carson: "I'm a bloody medical doctor, not a magician!"

John: "Kay, what would McKay do?"

Carson: "Are you telling me to shut up again?"
Ford: "Again!"

John: "What the hell took you so long?"
Ford: "Well there's this storm --"
John: "Hold that thought."

SCENE: Foursome Walking down corridor
Carson: "What kind of plan is that?"
John: "A Rodney McKay kind of plan. It's all we got."
Ford: "Which means there's only one place to go..."
Teyla: "Where the Genii will also be."
SCENE: Grounding station three.
Rodney: "Now the control room and Stargate operations are shielded. But the rest of the city…once lightning starts to hit."
SCENE: Foursome Walking down corridor
John: "Anybody left in the hallway…is as good as dead."
I really like how this conversation bounced back and forth between the two roups conversing. I think it was really effective and it was more interesting that exposition with all the charcters in one place.

Rodney: "I don't know if you noticed or not, but I'm a very arrogant man who tends to think all his plans will work."

John: "Sorry 'bout that, I had to uh- You alright?"
Elizabeth: "No."
John: "You will be."

Rodney: "Did you ever doubt me?"
Elizabeth: "Yes."

John: "They say these things happen every 20 years, right?"
Elizabeth: "That's what they tell us."
John: "How far in advance can we book days off?"

"The Defiant One"
John: "This is why parents get someone else to teach their kids how to drive!"
Rodney: "I am both insulted and touched by that."

ELizabeth: "Major?"
John: "I agree with McKay."
Elizabeth: "Of course you do! How could either of you resist exploring a crashed alien spaceship?!"
John: "Exactly."

John: "If we play the waiting game then the guy that's been around for 10,000 years is going to win."

Rodney: "Major, what was that?!"
John: "I almost blew myself up. Stay off the radio, I'm busy."
Rodney (to Gaul): "He's busy."

Rodney: "Major!"
John: "McKay!"
Rodney: "What do I do now?"
John: "Keep firing everything you’ve got!"
(Rodney fires at the Wraith as it walks towards him. The wraith is not slowed much by the bullets. Then McKay runs out of ammo.)
Rodney: "OK, what now?!"
John: "Reload!"

We've actualy watched all the way through to the episode "The Gift." The only episodes of season 1 left for Melissa and I to watch are "The Gift," "The Siege Part 1," and "The Siege Part 2."

And So It Begins...

My first Script Frenzy post with substance.

First I'll start by putting in the notes I took while wathing Stargate Atlantis last night. Melissa and I watched "Rising," "38 Minutes," and "Suspicion" last night. We skipped " Hide and Seek" because that episode skips on my DVDs.

"Pilot"
Jack: "In their...flying city?"
Daniel: "What?"
Jack: "Flying city."

John: "What's it feel like?
Ford: "Hurts like hell sir. (beat) Woohoo!"

Sumner: "Go to hell."
Wraith Queen: "Earth first."

"38 Minutes"
Rodney: "The cockpit is regrettably demolecularized at the moment."

"Suspicion"
John: "You took a blast from one of those stunners to the fae."

Ford: "Oh, you're just checking out the planet. That's cool. I got better things to do than cruise around the planet in a spaceship."

Bates: "I cant imagine it's be any worse than their homeworld."
McKay: "That could just be failure of imagination on your part."

Teyla: "It would be better if I went alone."
John: "You will be alone...with Lt. Ford."

Script Frenzy Warning Post

Dear Anyone Who Reads This Blog,
I apologize in advance for what you are about to have to endure (unless you just choose to stop reading my blog). Let me explain: Script Frenzy. I have already stated that I wish to participate in this endeavor (http://gotnothin.blogspot.com/2008/03/break-time-when-you-can-do-what-youve.html), but I don't feel that I've properly shouted it from the rooftops of my blog.

I AM DOING SCRIPT FRENZY IN APRIL. I WILL WRITE A 100-PAGE SCRIPT IN APRIL!!

</capslock abuse>. Now that I've gotten that out of the way I feel that I need to explain a little more about what this means for my blog. During the month of April I plan on posting more than I did in November when I did NaNoWriMo. I'll try to do, at least, weekly page counts. If I'm good I'll also post about character problems, plot holes, daily frustrations, and notes I'll be doing beforehand.
So, to sum this up. My blog is going to be taken over by Script Frenzy, just as in the past it has been taken over by Stargate SG-1, Supernatural, NaNoWriMo, Stargate Atlantis and probably Psych when there are new episodes for me to comment on and weeks to wait before new episodes.
What is this warning for anyway? If you read this you're probably already used to my obsessive behaviors.
My Sincerest (Early)Condolences,
Meg

My goal for tonight is to start an epic Stargate Atlantis marathon, not because I want to watch Stargate Atlantis (never! ), but because I want to take notes while watching on funny or effective lines or plots. That way I can better see what I like in tv shows.
And also because I really, really want to have a Stargate Atlantis marathon.

Break Time: When You Can Do What You've Been Doing the Rest of Class Without Missing Anything

Yeah, so it's break time in the middle of Web Dev 2.

I will be doing Script Frenzy. I downloaded Celtx last night and I wanted to test it out so I typed in some random stuff and it was a lot of fun. I ended up with three lines of dialogue and two character. w00t! I've always thought that my problem with writing is the dialogue (it's always felt like a weak spot), but I think my realy problem is fitting dialogue into prose. I suck at prose. So maybe I'll be writing my future fanfics as scripts instead of prose.

Well, Sometimes I Actually Get Things Done

I feel very accomplished right now. Tonight I have gotten so many things done. Here's a list of things I've done in the past 2 hours:
Edited and Submitted a Paper
Washed My Dishes
Cleaned Out the Inbox of My School E-mail (it really needed it)
Put Away All My Clothing
Changed the Sheets on My Bed
Made My Bed
Scrubbed the Shower Curtain (it was getting icky)
Switched the Floormat in the Bathroom
Cleaned Up The Floor of my Room
Recycled A Bunch of Stuff That Was Hiding Under My Bed and On The Floor

As I type now I'm trimming my nails, and I'm going to paint them. Then I'm going to make a web site. I want a site that I can use to apply all the things I'm learning in Web Dev 2, and possibly Relational Database and Web Applications too.

So yeah, I'm doing pretty great right now. A couple of nights ago (or maybe last night) the guys on the second floor were having shove fights (friendly). There were trying to shove each other to the other end of the hallway. Corey filmed some of them, and was planning to put them on YouTube in an East House user account that he'll create. Once I know where they are I'll link to them. Carissa participated and I joined at the very end.

Oh yeah! I want to do Script Frenzy this year. I've never written a script before, but I've wanted to. So I think Script Frenzy will be the perfect time to give it a shot. It's like NaNoWriMo. The goal is 100 pages (or more) of a Script in one month (April). I think it'll be a lot of fun.

I Miss WebTeam

I miss the freeformed learning of WebTeam. I never thought I'd be opposed to structured learning, but I am. I absolutely hate the following phrase: "And your going to learn about that in a later course." Grrr...NO! Why can't we learn the things we want to and be taught things in a logical order that doesn't require the teacher to say dumb shit like that. I'm taking a database class where we have done the theory behind databases and designing them and now we're starting our work in MySQL, but we're not going to get any teaching on how to make atabases work WITH a website. Like how to call information from a database with a website or for a website. To me it juyst makes sense to have that included in the course, but whatever. Also, if we don't take some design classes VERY, VERY soon, the internet is going to be populated with even more hideous, ugly websites. And they're going to be made by Web majors that are like "here's my website. It's standards complient, works on all web browsers and the code is gorgeous." And I'm going to be looking at these sites with my "WTF" face going "but it's ugly!!"

I think that's all I had to say. Night everyone.

I'm Bored: Everyone Be Afraid

So, I'm at work and I'm bored, and I'm here, sitting at the Circulation desk for another three hours.

*time passes*

Okay, so now I've only got another hour and a half before I'm done with work and I can go watch tonight's new Stargate Atlantis. I really can't wait to see this episode, but I'm also a little worried about what I'm going to do with myself once I've watched it. Supernatural is done with new episodes until mid-to-late April, then it has like five or six new episodes and is done until season 4. On that note...YAY Supernatural's getting a season 4!!! W00T! This goes out to my friends who believed that it was going to get cancelled. Ha ha! You guys have to deal with another year of my obsession, at least one more year. . Psych is also done with new episodes, but I think they're going to continue to play repeats on USA. I don't really have to depend on that though, since I have both seasons on my laptop already.

I pity my friends a little. After tonight's episode of Stargate Atlantis they're going to have to deal with my withdrawl from all three of my favorite shows until the new episodes of Supernatural about a month and half away.

I'm getting very close to pulling out my laptop and making some icons. Actually, I'm going to do that right after I finish this post. I haven't written a post this long in a while. It's nice to just type whatever comes to mind.

Last week I submitted 6 icons to the JSheppStillness Icon Contest on LiveJournal (http://community.livejournal.com/jsheppstillness/). One of them got a Mod's Choice award. I was really excited. I'll post the icons I made on here eventually, but they're already up on my LiveJournal (http://meg1742.livejournal.com). I used the eight pictures that were given out for the contest and made 18 icons (I cropped like 47, but only 18 made it to a completely finished stage). Earlier this week I downloaded the new set of eight pictures from JSheppStillness for Challenge #2 and cropped out like 50 icons. Now I just have to mess with sharpness and color and play around with textures. I'll make as many as I can and then choose my favorite six to submit to the contest. I think that works out the best (at least for me).

Well, I guess that's all I've got for now. I'm gonna go make some pretty icons, and then squee over the pretty in Stargate Atlantis.

Treadmill Journal: Number Three

No Specific Project
Throwing out ideas.
11:00pm.
12:00am.
Eh. I only got two ideas. The plot bunnies have all abandoned me.
Work on a website. The plot bunnies have abandonned me, but I'd be totally into making website, or starting some kind of web project that would keep me busy.
Now-whenever I get bored.

Seriously?!!?

Serious people downstairs making lots of noise, why can't you hear my loud, angry thoughts. I mean really.

Something's Going to Die Very Soon!!

Someone's banging in the gymnasium and I'm two floors above in Fireside Lounge and the floor is shaking. It's a little bit ridiculous. I'm ready for the floor to stop shaking. It's really annoying.

XML: Mad Confusing

So, I'm sitting in Web Dev II right now. Our teacher has left for the break and all of us students are confused by the XML we're fighting with. The class had decided as a whole that XML is "mad confusing". Three of us have exactly the same code and it does three different things. And we're all right. This is ridiculous. Why would anything use code that's so unreliable.

I completely forgot about doing NaBloPoMo in March. Mo just came and said that she'd failed it, and I remembered that I'd been planning on participating. Wow, that's my new NaBloPoMo record: 0 posts. I can't go anywhere but up now.

*grumble* Ranting About Classes

I'm in class right now, and I'm not having fun. At least I managed to move up to the front, so I can see the projector stuff that's going on. I'll add to this rant a little later. Our break just ended.

Treadmill Journal: Introduction

Just read about this thing called Treadmill Journaling (more info here: http://www.lifehack.org/articles/productivity/stay-on-track-with-a-treadmill-journal.html) and it sounds like a really cool way to get myself writing again.

So...I've just created a tag here for my treadmill journal. I will get back into the swing of writing (even with everything else going on in my life).

I'm liking the way the treadmill journal is set on that site, so I think I'll stick with it.

Today’s date.
The name of the project you’re working on. No need to get fancy here — an abbreviation is fine, so long as you know what it means.
What you will work on today.
Start time. The time you start working on your project.
End time. The time you finished working on your project.
How it went. A quick evaluation of your day’s work.
What you’ll do tomorrow. Your plans for the next day. You might not end up working on this — maybe inspiration takes you in a different direction. But you should have a clear idea now of what you intend to do tomorrow.
The time you’ll start and stop working tomorrow. This is a commitment, so make sure you select times where you have no other commitments and expect minimal interruptions.

I'll be posting my first Treadmill Journal tonight.

I'm Noticing A Trend

Recently I've been thinking about the guys I like to watch on tv and in movies. I call three of these guys my tv boyfriends.

My TV Boyfriends:
Jensen Ackles
Joe Flanigan
James Roday

Other guys I like to watch in tv shows and movies:
Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Jared Padalecki
Jared Drake Bell

My Three Obsessions Right Now (yeah, all at once. I pity my friends too.):
Supernatural
Stargate Atlantis
Psych

I'm noticing a pattern. All the the I like to watch on tv and in movies have first names that start with "J". The letter "J". Also, I'm sensing a pattern in the shows I obsess about. Two patterns in fact. 1) They are all filming in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. 2) They all start with "S" sounds. Not the letter "S," because Psych clarly starts with the letter "P," but if you say the word "psych" it sounds like it should start with an "S".

NaBloPoMo in March?

I'm thinking of doing NaBloPoMo in March. They even have a cool theme that you can blog about: lists. Let's see if I can make a list right now.

Things I Want To Talk To My Family About When We Talk Tomorrow:
Not!Snow Day
My Classes
Friends
Supernatural and Stargate Atlantis (yeah, my family is as bad as I am)
Things to bring when they come up on Saturday
Things they've been doing for the last two weeks (I feel like it's been forever since we spoke, but it's only been a few weeks)
The epic music vid I found to the song "Somewhere A Clock Is Ticking"
The East House Dinner
East House being the best house ever

Lists are harder than I thought they would be. NaBloPoMo in March would be fun though. I'd like to give it another shot. I was able to write more than 50,000 words in November, but I forgot to post on the 4th day of the month.

I iz pretti!

created with QuizFarm.com
You scored as John Sheppard

Your counterpart is the laid-back Air Force Colonel, John Sheppard.
Your probably pretty laid back. Things don't usually ruffle your feathers. You're very protective of those you love, and are always there for your friends. You have adorable bed head and a lopsided puppy dog smile and a demeanor that makes you seem like you're always relaxing on a California beach.

Desktop Pictures I've Made Recently

Here are some desktop pictures I've made that I hadn't posted here.

If anyone is looking for my Excited Geek Art site it's at this address for now: http://learning.excited-geek.com/art/. I had to move it when I updated my main site.

Erin, your birthday card is in the "learning" subdomain as well.

This was the first Stargate Atlantis desktop picture I made. I didn't spend much time on it, I just wanted a Stargate Atlantis-themed wallpaper for my desktop. I have a picture of the city of Atlantis (maybe the same one I used in this wallpaper) as the background for my computer's second login (it's my writing account and the city of Atlantis is very inspirational for me).

This is the desktop picture I made last night. I needed a pretty John Sheppard wallpaper to replace the Evil!John wallpaper I was using (below). This isn't how I wanted this to turn out, but I can deal with it for now.

This desktop picture has been on my screen for a while. It's Evil!John Sheppard from the Stargate Atlantis episode "Doppelganger".

This is a cutdown version of a desktop picture I made for Erin's desktop. This is cut to fit my screen. The images are from the Stargate Atlantis season 4 episode "Doppelganger". Erin and I loved Evil!Sheppard. I think it only spent about a day or so on my desktop though before I moved on.

This is Meg from Supernatural in the episode "Devil's Trap". At first I wanted to add more to it, but I think it looks good how it is. This spent a weeek or so on my desktop.

Out of all the desktop pictures I've made, this is one of my favorites. It's Sheppard getting his ass kicked by Teyla in the Stargate Atlantis episode "Hot Zone".

Now I'm going to watch "The Dukes of Hazard" on tv. It's the newer one. The General Lee is a hot car. Maybe not as hot as Metallicar, but close.

I Can Haz Iconz?

Yes, I can haz icons. Lots of them. I got bored, and when I get bored I get creative (or scary). In this case I got creative. I made a lot of icons. Now I'm posting them here.

60 Icons
- 46 "Outcast" Icons (Stargate Atlantis)
- 1 "Travelers" Icon (Stargate Atlantis)

I have to say, I like how LiveJournal has tables. Tables are really nice for organizing icons. It took me a lot less time to post these icons to my LiveJournal than it has taken to post these here.
