Oh Sims!! I've Missed You!

Since the partial reformatting of my Mom's computer (the only in the vicinity of good enough to play The Sims 2) I've not been able to play my much loved game. I installed it a few days ago and got an error when I tried to play it. I swear in the past few days I've been to every message board with a thread that has a name something like "Unable to find directx 9.0c compatible graphic adapter..." I will never again doubt how dramatic people can be. I tried every solution throw out on the message boards and nothing worked (I even download a Windows XP Service Pack from Microsoft. Mom's computer runs Windows 2000). Finally today I sat down with a new determination. I'd play the game before Dad 'fixed' the computer and I would play it again. When I asked for help my Dad commented that the driver I needed was probably on a CD in a clear jewel case. Easy enough, until I started looking for it. For one thing I was looking the computer room. We have an entire room devoted to computers. Three computers in there. There are more CDs in here than in FYE. But I found it. I'm just that good. I popped the CD in and installed the driver, then reinstalled DirectX 9.0 for probably the eighth time this week. And it didn't work. So I asked once more for my Dad's help. And he did something. It's not that I don't understand what he did to make it work, more that neither of us have any idea what he did. But who cares. The Sims works.

I spent the better part of this afternoon playing. It's an addictive game, what can I say? My sister came down, looked at the screen and said "she has glasses, so that's you." Yeah. I asked her what she thought of my guy and she didn't answer. She knows me too well. My Sims 2 family: Meg Winchester, Dean Winchester. If you can't live out your adolescent fantasies on The Sims where can you live them out? I only wish I was better at making the characters look like I want them to. They never look good enough.

My favorite thing about using television characters in The Sims is the things they do that they'd never do in their "real life". For instance, while I was playing The Sims today I glanced at what Dean was doing and he was sitting on the floor of their kitchen, writing in his diary. Would Dean Winchester ever admit to writing in a diary? I think not. This is how I imagine it (let's assume that Sam is the other character):
"Hey Dean, what are you doing?"
"Nothing." Dean mumbles, sliding the black book into his jacket pocket.
"What's that? Is that a diary?" Sam asks spotting the book.
"What?! No! It's a journal."
"What's the difference, Dean?"
"Diaries are for sissies. You have a diary. Journals are hunting tools."
"Right."

Yep, that's how it goes down in my head. Now I wanna see it on the show. We've already seen Dean's journal. It's just never been advertised. Check this:

Oh wait. That has nothing to do with what I was typing about. Check this one out:

The black book. The one I've only seen that once (but may go through all of season one to see if it's anywhere else). I'm assuming that's Dean's journal. His Dad had one, why can't he?

Anyway, I have to go to school tomorrow. Night.

Loss

Title: Loss

Author: Meg

Fandom: Supernatural

Author's Notes: Take from CreativeWritingPrompts.com Prompt #165: Think of a memorable character (from a book, film or tv show). Craft a story about that character losing the most valuable thing he or she owns.

Characters: Dean Winchester (Supernatural).

Spoilers: "All Hell Breaks Loose" Parts One and Two.

He was so pale. So still. So lifeless -- no. He couldn't be gone.

It had to be a dream, nightmare. This wasn't right. Dean wiped his eyes tiredly, banishing the tears. This wasn't his Sam. His Sammy. It was a mistake. Sam was somewhere else waiting for him. This was someone else. He tried to convince himself, but deep down hidden in the core of all the pain he knew it wasn't true.

Dean stared almost sightlessly at his Sammy. There was no movement and all he could do was stare. How long he sat there staring he did not know. But as quick as lightning he had an idea...and it went against everything he believed in.

What's dead should stay dead.

And everything he fought so hard against. But it didn't matter because without Sammy nothing mattered, and the crossroads was only a few miles away.

^*^*^*^*^

And that's what happens when the urge to write takes over.

On the topic of Supernatural...the complete season 2 DVD set is to be released on September 11, 2007. And when I have more time I'll make a countdown that can count down (crazy, I know) the time between now (whenever now is) and 12:01 am September 11, 2007. I'll be in Vermont by then. Taking classes in college.

"Shadow": My Over-Active Imagination

I just watched the episode "Shadow" (of Supernatural, duh!). By the end I was thinking that it really needed a good fanfiction tag. And by that I mean, at the end of the episode all three guys are pretty hurt, but Dean is bent over and wavering, etc. Now this may be because of how Jensen played it, but I would love it if there was a really good fanfic where Dean was more hurt than he let on.

I went looking for a fanfic that fit that description and found one (sort of), but first I want to try to show what I mean about Dean using screencaps. And if that doesn't work then at least we can look at the pretty pictures.

These two pictures are from the second "meeting" with the Daeva. Notice how Dean has his arm protectively covering his ribs. That's what I see at least.

This picture amazes me. If you look at the big version (and I have) Jensen's eyes look cloudy, kinda unfocused. Which I'm going to say is because Dean got his butt kicked by the Daeva.

I'm pretty sure this screencap spurs on Wincest lovers (that's right...Winchester incest), which I am not. I think it's a cute picture though. It looks like Dean is about to just nap right there.

Okay, so my proof that Dean is beat up more than he lets on is flimsy, but rewatch the scene and listen because there's so pretty gruesome sound effects and one of the Daevas (Daevi??) does seems to hang around Dean. And who really cares. There are pretty pictures.

BTW, these screencaps are from Striped Wall (http://stripedwall.com) and Screencap Paradise (http://screencap-paradise.com).

I said I'd found a story that I was looking for kind of. Here it is: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2839092/1/. It's a very well written story (and I know. I've read a lot of stuff on fanfiction.net). The only reason it's not perfect is because they end up in the hospital. I feel like that cheating. I'm just wierd. I like the stories where they (The Winchester Brothers) stay in a motel and patch each other up. Because that's the way it is in the show. In the first season they went to the hospital once (I think) and that was in "Faith" when Sam ran downstairs after saving the kids to find his brother lying in a puddle and (with how powerful Dean had made those tasers) probably not breathing. And I'm glad that they don't always end up in hospitals because if I wanted to watch hot guys in a hospital I'd flip over to Grey's Anatomy. Though, let's be honest, Jensen and Jared are way hotter than Patrick Dempsey, Eric Dane, Isaiah Washington, T.R. Knight and Justin Chambers. And Jeffrey Dean Morgan gets credit for being on both shows.

I have news. And it's exciting for me. On August 25, 2007, Me and two friends (Monique and Bailey) are taking a car trip to Boston, Massachusetts. To see Drake Bell in concert. Monique is buying the tickets tomorrow I believe. I'm super excited. We were supposed to see him in concert at a ski resort on Wachusett Mountain in Princton, Massachusetts (I believe), but it got canceled so we had a sleepover instead. That concert date was never really for sure though and had to be canceled due to the large number of people planning to show up (too many according to fire safety codes). I'm looking over information for the concert:
It's at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, MA.
It starts at 7pm.
Performing will be Aly & AJ, Corbin Bleu, Drake Bell and Bianca Ryan.
That's right. Corbin Bleu and Drake Bell in the same building...at the same time (and for the same performance). WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! This is information I did not know. Sara's gonna be so jealous, she loves Corbin Bleu.

Side Note: I want to read some of this author's stories when I have time: http://www.fanfiction.net/u/596294/.

This post brought to you by this YouTube video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=a9ZKwtgoZfY, chocolate, the internet, and pure excitement.

I feel like making a desktop picture (since I have all those screencap sites open.

Goals for the near future: survive tomorrow's chorus/band concert. I'm a soprano I and I have a cold. I can barely speak coherently, let alone hit those high notes...ugh.

We've Been Cited

My friend Monique (who is the co-owner of Serendipity with me) is writing her senior paper on blogs (I wrote mine on celebrities and why people idolize them. note to self: post a copy of my senior paper on here). Monique and I have lots of things in common: web design, going to Champlain next year, NCIS, Supernatural, and odd sources for our senior paper. I managed to cite two of the IMDb.com message boards in my senior paper: Jensen Ackles and Clay Aiken. Monique manage to cite...me. She talked about how blogs can be used to talk about favorite tv shows (I'm the perfect example of this). I haven't read her paper, but maybe when she's finished I can put a piece of it on here to prove that I've been cited in a school project, and senior paper is a large part of the senior English grade.

Charlie the Unicorn: Some People Just Have to Much Free Time

Almost everybody has seen the "Charlie the Unicorn" video on YouTube.com. And for those who haven't here's a link to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgO3NcG3IHM. It's a funny video, though a little annoying if watched too many times.

Once you've watched that there are so many remakes that people have made in their spare time. I found my favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6DjeK2xIZc. That's right...someone put Supernatural clips to Charlie the Unicorn. And my friends think I'm obsessed. I just spend the time finding this stuff.

And I find alot of stuff. Especially on YouTube. Here is the link to my YouTube profile: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=OverExcitedGeek. As of posting this link I have 291 videos in my favorites list. I don't have any videos that I've made (because I've never made any) but I find some of the best stuff. Very diverse: Supernatural, Dark Angel, Firefly/Serenity, Drake Bell, Jensen Ackles, Stargate (SG-1 and Atlantis), and more. Because...I really have no life.

On a completely unrelated topic. We bought season 2 of Stargate Atlantis yesterday. I'd seen most of the episodes, and have now watched the ones I hadn't seen, but I can't wait to watch commentaries and special features.

(No Title): That Bodes Well For My NaNoWriMo Novel

The following was written "for" NaNoWriMo. I will not be using this in my novel. I'm just trying to get to know my character. The rules say that outlines are okay. I'm outlining my character.

Air from outside rushed in through the open windows. The breeze blew lazily around the kitchen, messing Jordan's hair and distracting her from her work.

"Can I go outside now?" Her hair was tied up in little pigtails, keeping it out of her face despite the slight breeze.

"Once you finish your s's we'll go out for a break." Her mother sounded calm. The sun shone brightly through the sliding glass door that separate the dining room from the freedom of the backyard.

"But Mom," It wasn't fair, all the other kids got to go on the big yellow bus to the building with the cool playground that Jordan liked to play on during the weekend. They didn't have to sit inside and practice their s's, which Jordan was still trying to tell her Mom were just squiggles. "Can't we play now and do the squiggles later?"

The pleading usually worked for a little while, but this time it seemed to have no effect.

"Jordan," Her Mom grabbed her writing hand and a wave of emotions rolled through Jordan: fustration, guilt, determination. She didn't know what to do. The emotions were not her own, they belonged to her mother. She said nothing as her hand was dragged through the shape of the squiggle. Once her hand was released she felt the foreign emotions fade, and disappear entirely.

I Got Bored...

This is what happens when I get bored.

Another desktop picture. The images are from the episode "What Is and What Should Never Be". However, they are taken from Supernatural Caps. The text on the right side of the desktop picture (can be seen if full-size) is mine. I wrote it for a character contest where the contestants had to write a short spiel about who their favorite character was and why. It was at Remote and I won second place.

PicSpams Equal Love

I want to link to the Dean vs. Alec PicSpam. It has pictures from Supernatural and Dark Angel. And it compares Jensen in the two shows.

Supernatural Friday Five

May 25, 2007

1.) Tonight the CW re-aired the season two premiere, "In My Time of Dying". Now that we've seen the season finale and premiere, and as it is obvious both episodes were meant to have a big impact on the characters of the show (and therefore the fans), which episode did you like better and why?
Good question. Their Dad was in both episodes (though not for long in "All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2"). I think I like the premiere better, but for a totally dumb reason. While watching the premiere I knew that I had a whole season ahead of me. Watching the finale I knew that I had a whole summer of repeats ahead of me. I love Big Bad (the YED) in both episodes. I think that Big Bad is a humorous, engaging character. He doesn't seem evil when he's on-screen speaking with someone. I'm surprised that they introduced the actor that plays Big Bad in season 2, in "In My Time of Dying" and then managed to end his storyline in "All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2". I like "In My Time of Dying" better because it shocked me. I was so convinced that they (the Supernatural powers that be) were not going to kill off John, and then right at the end they did. And I never saw it coming. And it left me stunned and confused (even when I just watched the end last night, I was like "I'll never get used to that"). At the end of "All Hell Breaks Loose" (both parts) I was content. I didn't freak out in between the parts about Sam dying because I don't think TPTB are that cruel. And by the end of the second part I was a melted pile of goo (I will explain). I felt like it was a good end, and I loved how it tied back to the end of the first episode "Pilot". Then I thought about it and realized that there are so many questions left unanswered:
How did Mary Winchester know Big Bad?
Is it really Sam that Dean (and the Crossroad Demon) brought back?
How are they going to get Dean out of his deal (without Sam dying)?
Can Bobby be any cooler?
To explain the 'melted pile of goo' comment. Near the end of "All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2" Dean (Jensen) smiles and it was amazing. And I melted. And I've already posted a screencap of it (a couple posts ago) so everyone can go check it out as well.

2.) If the fans could vote on one extra Supernatural episode, would you rather have a wee!Winchesters episode (like "Something Wicked" from season one) or an episode twenty years in the Winchesters' future? As always, please explain.
I'm gonna say a Wee!Winchesters episode, but I liked the way "Something Wicked" did it. I could deal with an all Wee!Winchesters episode because I love the Big!Winchesters too much. I pick a Wee!Winchesters episode because if they were to do a future episode then the show would be tied into getting them there and I think that would annoy me.

3.) Supernatural is very music-oriented, so here's your crack question for the week. Which real band (meaning you can't make one up) would you place Sam and/or Dean in and why?
Everyone prepare for my total cop-out of an answer. Here goes...Dean and Sam should not be in any band(s). Because I like them right where they are: out on the road, hunting evil, being brothers, saving lives, being angsty (but not too angsty because then it become a soap opera).

4.) How do you hope the Agent Henricksen storyline will be handled in season three?
I hope that Agent Hendricksen doesn't suddenly become like every female cop ever on this show. I would be very disappointed it he had a sudden awakening and realized that our beloved Winchester boys are doing what's right (they just break laws to do it). I understand the lady cop from "The Benders" because they helped her solve the disappearance of her brother. And the cop from "The Usual Suspects" makes sense to because they saved her life. But it would ruin the Agent Hendricksen character for me if he let them off the hook.

5.) What are your thoughts on the season 2 DVD cover?
I love it. Blue-ish/Purple isn't a color my mind goes to when I think Supernatural, but I think it works. It has the three main characters on it (Dean, Sam and Metallicar) and it's a good picture of Dean, so I like it.

I Love Math

I have found my new favorite math equation. It is called the "Ackles Ass Equation" and it rocks. It also proves that Supernatural fans are smart and have too much free time. If you are interested (or just really friggin' bored) go check out the Ackles Ass Equation at entirelyjensen: The Ackles Ass Equation.

Things like this are why I love Supernatural, and I do actually like math as well (just not as much as I love SPN).

That Last Desktop Picture

Okay, so I actually found two more that I liked.

Smile :: I just had to use those shots from "All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2" in a desktop picture.

All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2 :: The scene that this screencap is from was amazing. And these two desktop pictures just show how they manage to cram all this emotion stuff into just one episode of Supernatural. Jensen should get an Emmy for this episode: crying, smiling, shooting. It had it all. The episode had chick flick moments and jokes and Bobby (who kicks ass and wins at life. Those daggers he was staring at Dean when he saw Sam alive again, perfect.) And Samuel Colt was an awesome cowboy. The plot was amazing. And I love Big Bad (the YED) he's so funny even though he's evil.
Also: I love the quote I found: The only cure for grief is action. I didn't know what to put on there so I went to some quote site and I scanned through the quotes on grief. And that one just jumped out at me. It's so simple, but it's deep as well. I can kind of imagine Dean realizing that as he's mourning and then acting on it and leaving to make the deal at the crossroads.

Posting Again

It's true...I have no life. I won't even deny it. I just have so much to say tonight, so much to share.

I've been checking out PicSpams (I love them so much!) and I was scrolling through one with pics from "All Hell Breaks Loose Part 1". One of the pics caught me because I just love everything about it. This is right after Andy has sent the telepathic message to Dean about where they (Andy, Sam, etc.) are and Dean received the messages (painfully).

Like I said, I love everything about this picture. I love Dean (not a new thing). I love that he's leaning on the hood of the car. It makes sense because he was standing right there when the "visions" started and that's just where he would land, but he kind of rests against the car for a quick second (obviously long enough to screencap). It's like he takes some strength from the car. Everytime I see this cap my heart stops for a second and then restarts.

The picture above makes me melt like the fangirl I am. And I'm glad I now have a good copy on my blog to stare at when I get bored.

The picture above is from "Houses of the Holy" (I think). It's from the end of a picspam and I think it shows what Supernatural is really about: brothers, family, hotness, siblings, love, relatives.

And now what I actually wanted to post. More desktop pictures.

Adorkable :: This one took forever. I have to take the pictures out of their original backgrounds and put them all in one picture. And then I found the sunset and stuck that in the back.

And Cute, Huh? :: The line is from Smallville. Lana and Jason are talking and Lana says something to the effect of "I don't know how to say this without sounding totally stuck up." To which Jason (Jensen) responds "Oh, I already know you're stuck up...actually, I wanted to talk to you about that," Lana fires back a reasonably lame "oh, you're funny." And Jason says my favorite line ever "And cute, huh?" Umm...YES!! I watched that scene so many times. The first black and white picture is from that scene. I had fun making this one.

I Watch For The Plot :: I just felt like making a new desktop picture.

Metallicar :: I was bored and I loves the car. So much love.

Splendiferous :: I love the picture, so I changed it to black and white and blended it to the black. Then I wanted to have his name across the bottom and a word down the side that shared the 's' in 'Ackles'. So, my sister and I found the word splendiferous and ended up moving his name to the left of the screen (it had originally been on the right).

Supernatural :: I needed to change the desktop picture on the computer I use in school. I took the title card from season 1 and the title card from season 2. I made sure the word matched up and did some layering technique. I can't remember which one, but it looks cool.

What Are You Watching? :: I think I made this one after watching Grey's Anatomy, maybe. I'm not sure. Whatever, I love hurt/comfort so Supernatural is better than Grey's Anatomy anyway (though I liked Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Denny). i like Grey's...I just like Supernatural more.

Snow :: I had downloaded a whole bunch of pictures and needed to do something with them. That's what I ended up with. I like it.

Demons I Get :: I made that a couple days ago after watching "The Benders" and realizing that Jensen looked amazing (a shocker, I know) in that episode. I loved his hair so much. It was perfect.

Faith ::I had watched "Faith" and seen the scene the screencap came from. It just screamed to be Photoshopped.

And now that I've proved that I am a total geek and I really need a life I should log off and go to bed. I hove one more desktop picture, but it's on my other flash drive (I have three) and I don't want to go get it. I'll put it here tomorrow maybe). But for now I need to get sleep. I think I'm starting to get sick because my throat is really sore. Good night!

Possibly My Favorite Place

I may have found my favorite place on the internet. It's a LiveJournal Community by the name of the Supernatural PicSpam Community. Those that are into Supernatural and have been there probably understand and those that haven't been there really need to check it out. Make sure you have lots of freetime. Lots of it. The site is addictive.

Fall TV 2007

I just have to share this article. The Fall 2007 TV Season: What It Might Looks Like. I thought it was hilarious.

Links That I Want to Remember And Share

Supernatural Caps :: Supernatural screencaps. They are big, and they're are lots of them. I like this site. Missing some episodes of season one though.

Capslock :: The only site I've found that has NCIS screencaps (lots of them, and good quality). This is where I've gotten a lot of caps for Serendipity.

Bunny Love and Bunny Icons :: Great screencaps and some awesome icons.

Supernatural Caps :: This is different than the first one. It's a LiveJournal Community that screencaps Supernatural.

What Is Fandom :: A LiveJournal about fandom and what fandom is.

Cap It! :: A LiveJournal Community that screencaps movies and tv show.

CW Source :: A blog about the CW. Well written and very, very addictive.

Heavy Meta Poisoning :: Supernatural Meta. This stuff is well written and has so much evidence. It really makes you think.

Wayward Son :: Supernatural wallpapers and icons. Really nice (full of the pretty).

A Queer and Pleasant Danger :: A LiveJournal that's got some pretty awesome Supernatural stuff.

The Dean Show Slumber Party :: The most adorable Supernatural cartoons ever!! So cute.

The above picture is just really pretty. I want to print it out and put it on my wall next to the other two awesome shots I have from Supernatural.

I think that's all. I'm going to download the deleted scenes (from Supernatural season 2) and watch them and scream now. Bye all!!

Serendipity and More

I've done a lot recently that I need to blog about, but I need to get to bed so I'll summarize and post a longer spewing of thoughts tomorrow.

The most important thing right now is Serendipity. Serendipity is an NCIS TCG that Monique and I created. It's her brainchild. She had the idea and she suggested it and I kind of jumped at it. And now it's real. http://fadedstars.net/serendipity/. I thinks amazing how far it's come from a list of deck and ideas and a name to an actual site on Monique's domain fadedstars.net. We have cards (almost 200) and members (Monique, My Little Sister and I, but it's a start) and we have a site (Go me!). And affiliate (one is a start). And a game (yeah...only one, so sue me. I'm working on it). So...if you like the show NCIS and have some internet skills then you should check out Serendipity and become a new member.

I'll be honest, tomorrow's post is going to be a fangirl brain dump. Since the Supernatural season finale (Jensen deserves an Emmy) I've found so many new fansites and fanfictions and I have to post as much stuff as I can here so that I don't lose it the next time we reformat this computer.

I also have more desktop pictures that I need to upload and share. I love sharing.

Oh yeah, fangirl moment. Supernatural will have third season on the CW. It will be in the same timeslot (Thursdays at 9:00pm after Smallville) and I'm so excited and proud. I don't think I was really worried. The CW doesn't have any other show that could hold their own against Grey's Anatomy and CSI. Congratulations to all the great people involved in Supernatural!! I hope you all have great summer breaks.

Good night!

Quick Post

I just wanted to post quickly before Girl Scouts. I finally decided what to use for my desktop picture. This now adorns my monitor:

Yes...this is all I get out of school every day, new desktop pictures.

Thank God for Photoshop Tutorials

I found this tutorial for blending online today. Here's the link: http://www.dreamvision-entertainment.com/dvw/tutorials/blendtut.html. And I followed the instructions using Supernatural pictures, of course, and I end up with the following desktop picture:

All the pictures are from the episode "Hell House" as are the quotes.

I read a lot after school today, and then I watched "What Is, And What Should Never Be" with my Mom. And after completing the episode I just had to make a desktop picture for it.

And after finishing that I was so excited by how cool they look that I was inspired to make one featuring Possessed!John. With the words "big Bad" on it, because that's what I like to call the demon.

Now, I'm very proud of these, but I have a problem. I have three desktop pictures and one desktop. Which means I either have to pick one or keep the wallpaper I have now. Good luck to me.
