I Hate Being Down

I'm feeling really down right now, and it sucks. I hate feeling like this. Tonight is my last night visiting here and I want it to be awesome. But instead I feel like I'm about to cry.

So I am declaring that now is the end of emo time. As Barney Stinson said, "When I get sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead. True story." Yeah. That's how I'm rollin'. Now I am awesome...because I say so.

In the 802.

So, now I'm out of the 207 and back in the 802. I missed it so much here. I'm staying with my friends in room 607. Two of them are Melissa and Carissa (formerly the 303 girlz, though I haven't changed the tag here. I like it as it is). We're hanging out and watching Chuck. I'm shadowing Mo in E-Commerce tomorrow morning, so I should get to sleep pretty soon. I just don't want to go to bed yet. I want to stay up and spend as much time with the girls in 607 and my other friends here as I possibly can.

Oh Man! I Love This Story!!

I managed to knock my summerwrite story down to 44 pages. I'e just finished printing it and I need to go through and put page numbers in. I forgot to but them on before printing, so I'll just write them on. I skimmed itas I went through and fixed all the indents. And oh man! Why did I stop writing this. All the characters are likeable. They're all different and have stories. There's a plot and sub plots. There's character growth and change and introspection. There's a setting and the word usage is good. They speak more formally, but it's very consistent. I even remember the twist I was planning. I stopped writing just after introducing a character that's been living in the same manor, but has never been actually met because he doesn't leave his room. He walks in and goes. "I need to talk to you." And my character is like, "who are you?" And he goes, "I'm Quinn, and I need to talk to you." And I'm like, "damn girl, you did good." So i probably stopped because I have no idea why Quinn needs to talk to Jasper. I still know how I want it to end, but there is a lot of build up that needs to happen, not only with my main characters, but also with all the people in the country thing they life in. 'Cuz there's gotta be some kind of social uprising for the twist to work right.

Oh man. I've totally used that phrase three times now in this post and title. It's still applicable. I'm going to read some (most likely all) of this story (I have no willpower, so stopping myself probably won't happen). Before I do I'll start a load of laundry because I leave for Vermont tomorrow and I need clean clothes to pack for the trip. I'm going to visit all my college friends that I miss very much and I'm super excited.

No Writing, But Yes Reading!

Haven't done any more writing (I suppose I'll do a little before I go to bed), but I have done a bunch of reading. Tonight was another night of going through post after post of blog about design, web design, fonts, logos, creativity, work spaces and more. I also watched The X-Files 2: I Want To Believe. I liked, but I may need to watch it again (with out my laptop) so that I actually know what's going on. And maybe it would make a bit more sense if I stopped procrastinating and just watched the rest of season 9 already.

So, yeah. That's my life for now. I'm starting a short Photoshop class and a short Illustrator class on Thursday (I'm taking them, not teaching them). I'm fairly solid with Photoshop (I use it all the time), but the classes are free and I might as well take it to brush up on the less icon and wallpaper oriented features and to learn how to use some of the ones I don't know about. Illustrator I'm less good with (and by that I mean quite terrible). I took a Photoshop/Illustrator class at Champlain my first semester, but I didn't like Illustrator and my teacher didn't really show us the cool things that could be done with it. I've seen some great vector work now and delved more into typography, so I'm more excited about understanding how it works and being able to use it proficiently. The thing I found most frustrating about Illustrator when I first starting learning it was how similar it was to Photoshop and also how different. It's just different enough that it gets me all confused and messed up.

I Want To Do This

I'm working on my PERL final assignment, but once I'm not really really busy and half asleep I would like to participate in this: http://anteka.livejournal.com/626024.html. Because it looks like a lot of fun. I wouldn't be able to do it through LiveJournal though, because I can't do voice posting, but I can record it and put it on YouTube.

Made It!

I am physically awake and sitting in the classroom of my exam. It's officially 8am and our teacher has just walked in. One of my group members is here, but not both of them and that worries me a little.

All-Nighter

I'm planning on taking some power naps, but I'm staying up until and through my 8am exam tomorrow. It's not actually any exam, it's a presentation (that I'm not all that worried about) so I think I'll be able to do it. My biggest worry about tomorrow is that if I go to bed I'll sleep through the exam, or wake up late and get there late. But I'm also tired, so I'll see if I can take naps and get enough sleep to survive tomorrow. I have the exam and work at 5pm that I have to go to, but there's an end of the year library party around 12:30 that I'd love to go to.

This all-night is brought to you (most likely literally because I may just post all night long) by Shaw's brand Orange Soda, Bones and the essay I'll be writing tonight (may as well be productive while I don't sleep).

Ha HA! Success!!

So, my blog is now three columns wide and all about 900 pixels wide. Here's the site I used to change the amount of columns here: http://tips-for-new-bloggers.blogspot.com/2007/02/three-columns-blogger-template.html. For the time being it's also boring to the max. I'd like to spend the next hour playing around with colors, but I need to finish my flash project because I have an exam at 3:30 and then my flash exam is just after that on at 6pm.

So, in the near future I will change the colors and fonts and such on this, but for now it's enough that my posts are as long as my extensive navigation. I was getting annoyed that the page was so long and it was all because of the nav bar and never because of the content.

No Motivation

So, it's exam week. I have no motivation. At all. Just today though. I'd been doing well up to today. Tomorrow I need to finish my flash project (just add in the content) and make some progress on my commission for Aesthetic Expressions. It's not due tomorrow, but I had wanted to have it finished by tomorrow and I need to at least have some progress to speak about in the exam period. But for tonight I am done with thinking. I'm going to not get anything accomplished for the rest of the time I'm at work and when I get back to my dorm I'm going to eat some of my chili (with cheese!) and watch the newest episode of How I Met Your Mother.

Also, the internet is so ridiculously slow tonight that I want to nap while I wait for pages to load (or play Solitaire, I think I may do that).

My Non-NaNo Post of Recent Going Ons

I have a new desktop picture, and really, when do I not have a new desktop picture?

The picture used in this wallpaper is from Stargate Atlantis and the quote is from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I love the Doctor (very much), but I needed a new wallpaper. I actually still want another new one, but it's exam week and I don't have time to play around in Photoshop for fun (but I do have time to update my blog more than I have in the past month, good call me).

As said already, it's exam week. I have a debate tomorrow where I'll be debating whether or not we (human beings) have freewill or not. I'm debating that we do. My partner/opponent is debating that we don't have free will. We're supposed to use scientific evidence to support our claims, but there is no scientific evidence to support the idea that humans have free will. It's supports Steve position that there is no free will, decision making is a process in the brain that we don't have control over. Also, I hate debating and we have to do it in front of the class. I'm screwed.

After that it shouldn't be that bad though. I have two exams on Tuesday. In the first one I have to talk about a paper I'm writing and a work of art I'm making. In the other I have to present the flash web site I've been working on. I'm not worried about either of those. I'm doing pretty well on the paper (haven't actually started writing it, but I'm working on the artwork) and I've been spending a lot of time on the flash project. It will be way better than the other two flash projects I've done for the class. Wednesday I have my PERL exam. That one worries me. We (my group and I) have to give a presentation, not only to the class, but also to some people in charge of a website. Our big project for the year was to make a PERL application of some kind that could go on this web site. So the group will the best/most impressive application will actually go up on the site. Our's is a time management quiz. The user answers a bunch of questions and the quiz tells if the player is sucking at time management (always choosing homework over friends), doing okay with time management (school over friends/family) or if they are really good at time management (balancing family, friends, school, work, etc.). My PERL exam is at 8am, so I'm staying up all night and going to the exam, then going to bed after it's over. I'm going to take naps so that I'm rested, but if I actually go to bed, I won't be able to get up and ready and to campus on time. My exam on Thursday is for my Algebra class. I'm getting a 96.5 in the class, so I could tank the exam and still get a better grade in the class than some of my classmates.

On a completely different note, I bought season 3 of Bones over Thanksgiving Break (and watched all of it). I brought seasons 1 and 2 back to school with me, so I've been going through and watching episodes here and there when I have free time. I really love that show. Friday night I watched an episode that I'd seen many times, but I watched it with a commentary by Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. It's was hilarious. They are so funny and adorable together in the show. I kinda want to rewatch all of Torchwood because I kind of miss the boy-kissing, but I left my external hard drive home with Erin, and since I watched the show for the first time in like HD, I'm too picky to wait for it to load and watch crappy quality online.

Over Thanksgiving Break Dad and Erin introduced me to World of Warcraft. It is a terribly addictive game, but I am managing to play it and still appear to classes and shower every day. My friends are worried that I'll become a shut in that never showers, but I feel really dirty when I don't shower, and that's not going to change and I'm already kind of shut in, so that's not going to change much. I do my best to not talk about all the creatures and zombies I've killed when I'm around them, but it really is an addicting game.

I have more to say, but I'm going to continue it in another post because my tags are too long when I add on the next two I need and I feel that I need all of them.

Goal Completion: 11. Read something at a PoJazz event (on stage to the audience, not a book in the back corner of the room to myself).

On Thursday night I went to PoJazz at Parima's in Burlington, and I read the poem "Warning" by Jenny Joseph. I was drawn to the poem by the first two lines: "When I am an old woman I shall wear purple/With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me." A few of my friends came with me to see me read and also make sure that I did it. I was really nervous, but glad that I did it because I don't want to be held back by my stage fright. I want to continue to rage against it and do things even though I'm scared silly of doing them.

See the updated list here.

My Section for the PERL Project

I need to make questions for the following three sections for Project Lovebeam's PERL project.

Friends
Work ($)
"Me Time"

Three questions for each catagory. Label the multiple choice answers for 1, 2, or 3.
1 = well balanced
2 = pretty good/needs a little work
3 = not balanced at all. Prioties not well organized.

I Can Haz A Job and Twilight

I have a job. I am working at the Dunkin Donuts in my town. It's a lot of fun. I like the people I'm working with and the customers are pretty nice, most of the time. Dunkin Donuts is such a huge change from working at the Miller Information Commons (Champlain College Library). It's definitely two completely different jobs. The library was very slow. Dunkin Donuts is very fast paced and it's been a hard transition, but I think I'm doing pretty well with it.

Twilight. I cannot wait for the Twilight movie to come out. Okay, I can wait, but it will be hard. I'm so excited. I watched the clips on MTV.com of Laura Culpepper, the guest blogger meeting Robert Pattinson and watching the scene and her interview with him. And I've watched the scene they've shown and the preview like a million times each. I'm so excited!!

I am adding a Robert Pattinson tag, because I'm sure that by December 12th, when the Twilight movie comes out, I will have more to say about him. He is playing Edward after all. I've also added a tag for the Twilight book series because I don't even know why I didn't have a tag for that already. And I've added tags for work at the MIC and work at Dunkin Donuts, for when I need to complain about work sucking up all my free time and keeping me from getting any writing done.

Well, night for now. I'm working at noon tomorrow and I'm not sure yet when I'll be getting out. Sometime between 6pm and 10pm. Making money is fun.

Blog Neglect

I'm so glad that nobody ever gets in trouble for blog neglect, otherwise I would have serious legal problems. I can't believe I haven't updated since April 9. It doesn't feel like it's been that long.

First off, Script Frenzy. I have 19 pages, and I'm shooting for 50 by the end of the month. As much as I'd love to make 100 pages, my plot really isn't inspiring me to write and I've got exams and projects that I'm finishing up this week and next, and after that I'll be moving out of my dorm room and back into my home in Topsham.

I've just finished my Web Dev and Database finals and I think I did really well. yay me!

Flash, I have it. I'm playing around in Flash, and I've beeing playing around in Photoshop for a while. I'm taking a Flash class next semester and I want to get some practice in before hand. Because I really like being awesome.

Divs: A Letter to Myself

Dear Self,
You know that Web Dev class you're in right now? The one where you spend you Thursday mornings? You probably should have paid more attention to divs. I know that they annoy you with their unreliability. Like when they work in IE, but not in any other browser, which is a total turn around. Hey! I have an idea. How 'bout this summer you read up on divs and make like a million sites using divs so that by next semester in September you'll be a DIV MASTER?
Love,
Yourself

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

Break Time: When You Can Do What You've Been Doing the Rest of Class Without Missing Anything

Yeah, so it's break time in the middle of Web Dev 2.

I will be doing Script Frenzy. I downloaded Celtx last night and I wanted to test it out so I typed in some random stuff and it was a lot of fun. I ended up with three lines of dialogue and two character. w00t! I've always thought that my problem with writing is the dialogue (it's always felt like a weak spot), but I think my realy problem is fitting dialogue into prose. I suck at prose. So maybe I'll be writing my future fanfics as scripts instead of prose.

Well, Sometimes I Actually Get Things Done

I feel very accomplished right now. Tonight I have gotten so many things done. Here's a list of things I've done in the past 2 hours:
Edited and Submitted a Paper
Washed My Dishes
Cleaned Out the Inbox of My School E-mail (it really needed it)
Put Away All My Clothing
Changed the Sheets on My Bed
Made My Bed
Scrubbed the Shower Curtain (it was getting icky)
Switched the Floormat in the Bathroom
Cleaned Up The Floor of my Room
Recycled A Bunch of Stuff That Was Hiding Under My Bed and On The Floor

As I type now I'm trimming my nails, and I'm going to paint them. Then I'm going to make a web site. I want a site that I can use to apply all the things I'm learning in Web Dev 2, and possibly Relational Database and Web Applications too.

So yeah, I'm doing pretty great right now. A couple of nights ago (or maybe last night) the guys on the second floor were having shove fights (friendly). There were trying to shove each other to the other end of the hallway. Corey filmed some of them, and was planning to put them on YouTube in an East House user account that he'll create. Once I know where they are I'll link to them. Carissa participated and I joined at the very end.

Oh yeah! I want to do Script Frenzy this year. I've never written a script before, but I've wanted to. So I think Script Frenzy will be the perfect time to give it a shot. It's like NaNoWriMo. The goal is 100 pages (or more) of a Script in one month (April). I think it'll be a lot of fun.

I Miss WebTeam

I miss the freeformed learning of WebTeam. I never thought I'd be opposed to structured learning, but I am. I absolutely hate the following phrase: "And your going to learn about that in a later course." Grrr...NO! Why can't we learn the things we want to and be taught things in a logical order that doesn't require the teacher to say dumb shit like that. I'm taking a database class where we have done the theory behind databases and designing them and now we're starting our work in MySQL, but we're not going to get any teaching on how to make atabases work WITH a website. Like how to call information from a database with a website or for a website. To me it juyst makes sense to have that included in the course, but whatever. Also, if we don't take some design classes VERY, VERY soon, the internet is going to be populated with even more hideous, ugly websites. And they're going to be made by Web majors that are like "here's my website. It's standards complient, works on all web browsers and the code is gorgeous." And I'm going to be looking at these sites with my "WTF" face going "but it's ugly!!"

I think that's all I had to say. Night everyone.

Seriously?!!?

Serious people downstairs making lots of noise, why can't you hear my loud, angry thoughts. I mean really.

Something's Going to Die Very Soon!!

Someone's banging in the gymnasium and I'm two floors above in Fireside Lounge and the floor is shaking. It's a little bit ridiculous. I'm ready for the floor to stop shaking. It's really annoying.
