Homework Revised

For my first homework assignment this week I had to pick a favorite design from the ten I made last week and tweak it even further. I chose to work with number two. I made the word "Kingslayer" bigger, so that it is a bigger part piece.

Oh God, I Need Sleep

It's 5am, and I have to be at work at noon. I just finished and submitted a homework assignment that was due last night. I started at 10pm when I got home, and have been working on it since then. I'm not really sure how to explain the assignment because right now even typing and spelling are hard for me. So I'll just put my ten pictures in here and leave it at that.

The small font (verdana 4pt) was not that small when I started. Also, these were all made to be 11 in x 8.5 in. With 300 ppi. So it was bigger in Photoshop. I noticed that the font was starting to get smaller around number 6, but that was around 2am, so I think it's just my eyes.

I chose "The Kingslayer" as my text because it's something I'm working towards in WoW (10/12 since being kicked from Masochist a month ago) and because it has ascenders and descenders and all the letters I needed for the project requirements.

I think I'm going to sleep now.

Another Blog...Really?

No, not really. I don't plan on using it. I swear. I made a blog at Posterous (this one is mine: http://gotnothin.posterous.com/) to see what it was like. The layout of mine is apparently the only one available. I really like it though. It's very clean and neat. It's something I may emmulate when I finally redesign Excited-Geek again (which hopefully will be soon).

Well, I have to work tomorrow, though I'm not sure when. So I'm gonna check my schedule and turn in for the night (or do some of the reading for my class at least).

No Writing, But Yes Reading!

Haven't done any more writing (I suppose I'll do a little before I go to bed), but I have done a bunch of reading. Tonight was another night of going through post after post of blog about design, web design, fonts, logos, creativity, work spaces and more. I also watched The X-Files 2: I Want To Believe. I liked, but I may need to watch it again (with out my laptop) so that I actually know what's going on. And maybe it would make a bit more sense if I stopped procrastinating and just watched the rest of season 9 already.

So, yeah. That's my life for now. I'm starting a short Photoshop class and a short Illustrator class on Thursday (I'm taking them, not teaching them). I'm fairly solid with Photoshop (I use it all the time), but the classes are free and I might as well take it to brush up on the less icon and wallpaper oriented features and to learn how to use some of the ones I don't know about. Illustrator I'm less good with (and by that I mean quite terrible). I took a Photoshop/Illustrator class at Champlain my first semester, but I didn't like Illustrator and my teacher didn't really show us the cool things that could be done with it. I've seen some great vector work now and delved more into typography, so I'm more excited about understanding how it works and being able to use it proficiently. The thing I found most frustrating about Illustrator when I first starting learning it was how similar it was to Photoshop and also how different. It's just different enough that it gets me all confused and messed up.
