Script Frenzy Has Begun!

I haven't written anything except a transition and a scene heading, but Script Frenzy has begun! I'll confess that I have no idea what I'll be writing except that it will be Psych fanfic. I've been so immersed in watching Psych the past few weeks that there's no way it could be anything else. I also have a page of detailed notes on my desk in front of my monitor that I took while reading the "Introduction to TV Scripts" and "TV Script Formatting Overview" in the Script Frenzy Writer's Resources. So I am prepared with the knowledge of how to write a script, just not a plot. I think I picked the right show to write with no plot for though, because I can just write any ridiculous thing that comes to mind until I actually have an idea.

I have to be at work a noon tomorrow, but I'm going to put up my Script Frenzy participant image on the side and try to knock out a page or so before calling it a night. If nothing else, it's a lot of fun watching my newly-painted red nails on the keyboard.

Fic: Paperwork Blues, Picture and Wallpaper

First, the desktop picture that started all this insanity.

The signature on here is my handwriting and it took me forever. I was having serious roblem with the P's in Sheppard, so I didn't write them. Before I gave up on them completely though, I asked Erin to help me and she wrote "Sheppard" in a ridiculous way that inspired the story that follows.

Title: Paperwork Blues
Author: Meg1742 with help and inspiration from Erin
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Genre: Light Crack.
Spoilers: None, unless you don't know that Sheppard is the Military Commander.
Words: Like 200 or so.
Summary: Sheppard is doing paperwork.

It was days like this that made Rodney question the sanity of his friend. Only the overgrown child that was Colonel "I'm A Trouble Magnet" Sheppard could sign a serious requistion form with a stick figure surfing the "r" of his last name.

"What is this?" The Colonel looked up from what looked to be weeks worth of paperwork and squinted at the page Rodney held.

"I'm not sure. Looks like a requisition form."

"I meant this." Rodney stepped forward, closer to the desk, and pointed at the signature.

"A really artistic drawing of a person with great hair surfing."

"This is a serious requisition. Did you even read it?"

"Yes, Rodney, I did." Sheppard sounded exhasperated, of course he'd read the requisition. He'd read hundreds of them. Sometimes being held captive by the Genii or Wraith seemed like more fun than dealing with the paperwork that came with the Military Commander position. "And that is a serious drawing. Look at the shading in that stick figure. Not everyone can do shading like that with a ball-point pen."

"Yes, and the waves look completely realistic."

"That's what I was going for."

"You're insane."

John looked at all the paperwork that still needed to be completed. "I'm pretty damn close."

Rodney surveyed the stacks of paper. "I'm heading to lunch. Want to tag along?"

"Absolutely."

And here's the actual picture that inpired the story. It enlarges a lot.

Title:
Author: Me
Summary:
Timeframe/Spoilers: Set after "All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2". Everything up until then is fair game. No spoilers for season three.
Author's Notes: This story was written for Found Fic SPN challenge number 17. The Found Fic SPN community is located at the following address: http://community.livejournal.com/found_fic_spn/

"I think I found us a hunt."

"Sam, no."

"Dean, come on. People need our help."

Dean raises his head. "Sam." He whines. "We're taking a break. A vacation. You know what a vacation is like, right? Come on."

"Dean, what is it with you and taking a vacation?" He stands. "This is just a quick hunt, just a few towns over, shouldn't take more than a day." He can see Dean's resistance falter. "We can help these people Dean." It's a low blow, but it works.

"Fine. Pack up, and let's get this over with." Dean puts away the gun he'd been cleaning and stands. "But after this I'm taking away your laptop and we're taking a break." Sam nods.

In five minutes Dean, Sam and all their gear are packed in the car and on their way to MiddleOfNowhere's Ville, Vermont, which Sam informs him is actually called Ferdinand and has less that fifty residents.

Loss

Title: Loss

Author: Meg

Fandom: Supernatural

Author's Notes: Take from CreativeWritingPrompts.com Prompt #165: Think of a memorable character (from a book, film or tv show). Craft a story about that character losing the most valuable thing he or she owns.

Characters: Dean Winchester (Supernatural).

Spoilers: "All Hell Breaks Loose" Parts One and Two.

He was so pale. So still. So lifeless -- no. He couldn't be gone.

It had to be a dream, nightmare. This wasn't right. Dean wiped his eyes tiredly, banishing the tears. This wasn't his Sam. His Sammy. It was a mistake. Sam was somewhere else waiting for him. This was someone else. He tried to convince himself, but deep down hidden in the core of all the pain he knew it wasn't true.

Dean stared almost sightlessly at his Sammy. There was no movement and all he could do was stare. How long he sat there staring he did not know. But as quick as lightning he had an idea...and it went against everything he believed in.

What's dead should stay dead.

And everything he fought so hard against. But it didn't matter because without Sammy nothing mattered, and the crossroads was only a few miles away.

And that's what happens when the urge to write takes over.

On the topic of Supernatural...the complete season 2 DVD set is to be released on September 11, 2007. And when I have more time I'll make a countdown that can count down (crazy, I know) the time between now (whenever now is) and 12:01 am September 11, 2007. I'll be in Vermont by then. Taking classes in college.

Opening Up & Wallpapers

This is what happens when an obsessive fanfic reader looses internet, tv, and phone. They write.

Title: Opening Up
Author: Me
Fandom: Supernatural
Time Frame: Season 2. Just after "Everybody Loves a Clown". A little bit AU because it does not support the events of "Bloodlust".
Summary: How Sam gets Dean to open up about his feelings.

Sam Winchester had a special gift. He had the ability to do anything he set his mind to, and after he had seen the damage his older brother had inflicted on the Impala his mind was set. He was going to get Dean to talk about his feelings.

Like any other thing he did this was going to take time and effort. He had plenty of time and he had no problem putting effort into this project.

He started by writing down a list of ideas to make Dean open up about his feelings, and then he tried them one by one until one finally worked. In hindsight he should have started with the last one. It would have saved time.

The Master Plan, by S. Winchester

#1: Talk to him: tried Sat. October 7, 2006

“Dean, we need to talk.” I approached the topic of our father’s death and feelings again with Dean. This time I had planned out my “attack” strategy. We were in a deserted part of Bobby’s land, with no one was around to hear us and I wasn’t going to walk away this time.

“No we don’t.” Dean’s stance was rigid.

“I’m going crazy here. How are we supposed to fight off supernatural creatures if our internal demons are kicking our butts.”

“Fuck internal demons.”

“You can’t just ignore this, Dean.”

“I’m not ignoring this. I’m dealing with it!”

“No, you’re not.”

“I’m fine, damnit!” This was “pissed Dean”. The scary person hidden inside my brother.

“Does lying to yourself enough times make it true?!”

“I’m not lying to myself!! I’m fine!” I watched as his face reddened and my hand patted my pants pocket, checking that my cell phone was still in there. I would need it to call for help if he kicked my ass right here and now. Then he relaxed slightly. “I’m leaving,” he announced, then turned and walked off towards Bobby’s. I stayed rooted to the spot. I know now, more than ever that he’s not fine. He’s very not fine. He’s a mess. And I’ve never had to deal with this before.

#2: Get him drunk: tried Wed. October 11, 2006

I stayed clear of him for a few days before attempting and achieving some basic communication. It was Monday when I achieved “pass the salt please” and didn’t get the salt chucked at my face.

I had heard the door close earlier today and known that he’d once again gone to the bar across the street from Bobby’s again. Now was as perfect a day as any to try my next idea.

I left about two hours after he had and made my way to the bar “Tom’s Saloon”. The bar was dimly lit, a must, I decided, for all bars, but it was not as rowdy as most of the bars I had visited with Dean. There was no pool table here, probably not enough room for one anyway. I spotted Dean sitting alone at a back table, near the men’s bathroom, and approached his table.

“Can I join you?”

He looked up at me. “Go ahead.”

I sat down and ordered another round of beers. The table had an assortment of beer bottles and shot glasses. Since his 21st birthday Dean has been frequenting bars all around the country to calm down after a hunt, or to waste some time, and he had no doubt had a few drinks with Dad before then. This plan, I thought, may have been even worse planned than my previous one to just talk to him. I’d never seen Dean with anything more than buzz, and certainly not full out drunk. Not even after a bad hunt. He’d helped me by drinking more than I ever would in one sitting, in the two hours between when he’d come here and when I had followed.

“How’s it going?”

“Fine.” One-word answers were getting farther away from a conversation and Dean opening up. At least last time he used sentences.

The waitress delivered our drinks and I thanked her for being so fast. Start small I reminded myself. I took a drink of my beer to calm my nerves.

“So, how are the repairs coming along?”

“Fine.” Oh dear. This was worse than I thought. Not only was he giving only one-word answers, he intended on using the same word to answer every question.

We made small talk, “we” meaning me asking him questions, and Dean answering with “fine”. When I asked questions that couldn’t logically be answered with “fine” he pulled two new words out of his vocabulary: “yea” and “no”.

That was how our night went until Dean finished the beer he was drinking and announced, “I’m going back to Bobby’s. You can stay here.” The longest thing he’d said to me since my attempted on Saturday.

“No, I’m ready to go too.” I checked my watch. It was well past midnight. I’d been here for about four hours and consumed four beers and two ginger ales in that time. Dean had been here for six hours and looking at the table I saw five beer bottles and six shot glasses, and the waitress had cleared the table at ten.

“You don’t have to come. I can make it back on my own.” Dean stood up steadily. He walked to the door, never once stumbling or weaving. I had seen Dean drunk. I’d just never realized it.

When I got drunk I remembered bits and pieces of my adventures the next day and the rest had to be filled in by people that had been with me. After hearing many stories about my karaoke “talents” and other embarrassing drinking habits I had decided to keep an eye on how much I drank. I guess I had assumed that at some point everybody got talkative when drinking. Not Dean though. He seemed to get quieter the more he drank. As his usual self, Dean made jokes, picked up girls left and right, and found humor in the most immature things. I’d never realized it when Dean was drunk because instead of completely losing control, like I did, he became quiet, broody, and troubled.

I followed him out of the bar and across the road. Even drunk he looked carefully down the road so he wouldn’t be hit by an incoming car. Ever the hunter.

I unlocked the door for us, though I’m sure Dean could’ve picked the lock if he’d needed to.

He headed to the guest room we stayed in while I took a necessary trip to the bathroom.

I walked into the guest room to see Dean lying in bed, wearing his customary tee-shirt and boxers nightwear, staring at the ceiling.

“What are you think about?” I queried, hoping this would be my chance at the conversation I’d been working for.

“Nothing worth sharing.” He rolled onto his stomach. “Night.” After a few minutes his breathing evened out. I’d failed again. Older siblings are so stubborn.

#3: Wait patiently for him to talk to me/break down/explode: tried Sun. October 15,2006 – Tue. December 12, 2006

A month and a half into “waiting patiently” I had an idea that corresponded with this “wait for him” tactic.

#3a: Read his diary: in progress

Every hunter I’d ever met carried a hunter’s journal. Dean and I had Dad’s for reference, but I’d seen Dean writing in a medium-sized black book. I had a small journal in my duffel that contained some pictures of Jess, so it made sense that Dean would write in his black book. All I had to do was read it when he wasn’t around. Sounds simple doesn’t it. Not so easy when I realized two days after thinking up my new plan that I had no idea where the book was located.

The Impala was finally fixed and looked better than new. For some reason I have a feeling the book is in there, not a “feeling”, just a normal feeling.

“Dean, I‘m going out for snacks. Do you want something?” Step 1: get car away from brother. I couldn’t search through it while it was parked right outside the window. He kept glancing away from the laptop to look at it through the window. It was actually starting to be a bit much.

“I’ll go with you.”

“No, I got it. Stay here, keep doing...whatever you’re doing.” I actually had no idea why he was spending so much time on the laptop.

“M&Ms.” He threw the keys and I caught them easily.

“Got it. I’ll be back soon.”

The trip to the gas station down the street didn’t take long. I bought a couple packs of peanut M&Ms and some soda for Dean, and a few random things for myself to munch on. I had come here under the premise of getting snacks, I had to make it convincing.

All the snack went onto the passenger seat and I started my search of the car. Front to back.

The space under the front seats was clear. Underneath the back seats was a mysterious, locked metal box. Worth investing, I picked the lock and flipped open the lid. Inside I found both of our birth certificates and a bunch of pictures, some of which I recognized as the ones we’d retrieved when we’d gone back to Lawrence. Buried underneath that was a medium-sized black book.

I opened the cover slowly, now that I had the book this felt more like prying than helping my brother. Instead of read the entries I flipped through them. Most of the early ones had pictures and notes about cases Dean had done, or we’d done together. As I flipped through more his handwriting started getting messier, as if he’d written when he was angry or mad. I shut the book before I got carried away. I didn’t need to know what he was writing about, as long as I knew that he wasn’t going to take his anger out on the car again, or another person. We were both dealing with Dad’s death, and everything else that we’d let build up for far too long, and it was enough to know that.

^*^*^*^*^

I also have some new desktop pictures I made. One for Stargate SG-1 and the other is another Supernatural. Both are in the same style as the one I posted on Oct. 12.

I am attempting to add them to this post.

^*^*^*^*^

I'll fix any problems with formatting, and posting the pictures when I get internet back at home. I'm pretty sure this entire post is going to be riddled with HTML tags because I usually edit all my posts in the HTML editor.

I watched the CW Director's Cut for Supernatural a few minutes ago, and now I'm really excited about the episode tonight.

Note to self: Catch up on fanfiction, NCIS epi, Criminal Minds epi, Veronica Mars epi. Tape Smallville and Supernatural tonight.

Like Father Like Son

Title: Like Father Like Son
Fandom: Supernatural
Set after the season 1 finale. Not a whole 'how the first episode of season 2 should go' story. Just a short little one shot based VERY loosely on spoilers from the Director's Cut Supernatural video at http://cwtv.com/video. This is definitely not how it's going to work out in the season premiere on Thursday.

Sam stood by his father's hospital bed, only a few scratches on his face to show for the run in with the semi that had crushed Dean's beloved Impala and put both Dean and John in the hospital.

John and Sam were engaged in an almost ritual yelling spree, while Dean stood by, shouting at them to stop fighting, though it seemed neither Sam nor John could hear his protests.

John was in the middle of one of his 'you-should-have-shot-me-because-if-you-had-Dean-would-be-okay' rants, and Dean was yelling at his father that killing him wouldn't have helped, when Sam finally gave up trying to listen to both of them. "Would you just shut up!!"

"Who me?" Both John and Dean answered in unison. Both looked quite suprised at the idea of being told to shut up.

"Both of you."

"'Both of you'? I'm the only one here Sam." John told him. "Who else are you telling to shut up?"

"Dean. Dean's here." Sam could not honestly think of another time that his father had been speechless.

Dean threw his arms up in the air. "Come on man. We had a deal. You tell Dad you can see me and I don't tell him that you let the nurses take my necklace off."

"We never made a deal, Dean, and I couldn't have stopped those nurses if I'd tried. I was unconscious at the time!"

"What are you talking about?" John seeing his son speaking to an empty corner of the room was a bit disconcerting.

"Nothing."

^*^*^*^*^

That's all for now. Tune in later for something new and exciting.

Off-World Incident #21

Title: Off-World Incident #21
Fandom: Stargate SG-1
Author: Me.

It all happened so quick really. Colonel O'Neill was leading us through the swamp this planet seemed to be covered in. Daniel and I were talking about the possible implications of a planet where the Goa'uld had never ventured too, but a civilization had developed on. Teal'c had our six covered, making sure none of the undetected anything tried to get us.

"O'Neill!"

I heard Teal'c's shout and looked to my commanding officer. He had been standing just a few feet before Daniel and I, and now there was a bunch of scuffle marks in the muddy grass and no sign of him. Teal'c pushed past me and knelt by the pool of water in front of us.

"He is in here." Teal'c informed us and I pulled off my pack as I knelt by my Jaffa friend.

"I'll go in." I stated and pulled a rope I had packed in my bag out. Teal'c and Daniel grabbed one end of the rope and I wrapped the other end around my wrist before sliding myself into the obviously deep pool of water.

I looked around as best I could under the water and spotted the Colonel struggling weakly to get out of his pack.

I kicked off the rough walls of the odd pool and propelled myself to the Colonel. As I unclipped the heavy pack the Colonel's movements slowed. He was going to lose consciousness.

You may not have noticed, but Colonel O'Neill is a little bigger than I am. I certainly noticed as I wrapped my arm around his waist and yanked on the rope, while swimming upward as much as I could. The rope tightened on my arm and I kicked my feet to speed up the process of Daniel and Teal'c pulling us to surface.

I'm pretty sure I was just about to pass out when I felt strong arms pull me out of the water. The weight of the Colonel left me and Daniel told me to take deep breaths. I did as told and moved to where Teal'c was with the Colonel.

"Teal'c. Is he breathing?" I asked the Jaffa.

"He is not." Teal'c's so calm. How the hell can he be so calm!!!

I moved to the other side of Colonel O'Neill unbelievably fast and checked his pulse. "He's got a pulse." I told them as I began mouth-to-mouth. I had my ear over his mouth, to check if he was breathing, when he coughed up water into said innocent ear.

"Roll him over." I instructed, and Daniel and Teal'c helped me roll him onto his side.

He continued to cough up water and take in air as I rubbed his back.

"Carter?" He gasped out.

"Yes, sir."

"Wha happened?"

"You fell into the pool." I explained vaguely.

"And..." He prompted. He's good.

"And I took off my pack, grabbed a rope and jumped in after you." I was a little worried about how he was going to react to me jumping into an alien pool of water. It may have been the slightest bit senseless, but I'd rather get reprimanded by my CO than have to speak at his memorial.

"Thanks." I wasn't really expecting that.

"No problem, sir." A breeze blew and I realized just how cold I was. "Why don't we head home, sir?"

"Good idea Major." He rolled onto his back and I grabbed his outstretched hand and pulled him up to his feet. Then he said something I don't think I've ever heard him say. "Lead us to the gate Daniel."

*the end*

The Internet!! It Was! And I...OMG!!

I'm back. We didn't have internet for a few days, but we got it fixed and now I'm back.

This is a freewrite I did for 11 minutes on the 18th (Saturday):

I'm handwriting this because at the moment internet is down and I can't type it straight into my blog. The reason internet is down is some BS I don't know much about. We got a new modem today. It's supposed to be faster than our other one. It worked through the afternoon, but now it's not. And that means no phone because that goes through our internet. I haven't read fanfiction since Thursday. Maybe Wednesday. Somebody's coming on Monday. It's Saturday today. AAAHHHHHH!!! How will I survive?!

I was having trouble posting today. I kept getting an error "553 Permission Denied." I signed out, deleted all my cookies (bye cookies) and signed back in twice, trying to publish each time unsuccessfully. It's a bummer. I want it to work for me.

Even if I can't read fanfiction, I do have an idea for a story written down, as well as all my stuff for Atlantica if I still want to do it. I'll try writing it slower this time.

Since I wrote this freewrite I posted the post that wouldn't post before. We obviously have internet back. I hand wrote three pages of the Stargate SG-1 story mentioned. It's the one inspired by the 'looking in the mirror' prompt. I hope to get it up this week. I'm on vacation for now. I have also read enough fanfiction to make up for the days I missed. Approx. 14 stories in three hours. I feel better already. Atlantica is a series of stories inspired by a line from Stargate Atlantis. The line where Lt. Aiden Ford proposes that they name the planet that Atlantis resides on 'Atlantica'. I like the name and I created a planet of my own called Atlantica. I would like to try to write about it.
